• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So advice on removing panels

So I would like to take panels off and really detail/clean the bike. But I am absolutely scared to death Ill break one.

Any advice for an F3-T that will make me a bit more confident?

Visit this web site and look at the parts diagram for the panel you wish to remove.

I have replaced many of the torx screws with Phillips screws as seen here

Desperately hating Torx. I am on a mission to eliminate all Torx (star) screws on my F3. I am using m5 x .8 x 20mm stainless black oxide pan head phillips screws. I got them on Amazon but you might be able to find them elsewhere. I bought 50 of them for $13 on Amazon. Considering that each of the OEM Torx are $4 each and just one side needs four it's a bargain. I also use these on my quad as well.

So with any Torx screws or push pins that I remove, I can use the bolts that you linked to at amazon instead?

And I honestly dont even know what the panel names are called. Maybe the manual would help me too.

The panels on the F3 L/T are very easy to remove.

1. Open frunk and remove black plastic panel (Pull up on front corners).
2. Remove access panel (Turn lock one quarter turn).
3. The main panel has only four screws and three push-pins to remove. At the very forward end of the main panel, there's a screw. DO NOT remove it. It's a guide when you reinstall it. When you pull it out, you'll see what I mean. That's it.

The rear panel (behind passenger seat) is even easier.

1. Remove passenger seat.
2. Remove the two push-pins.
3. Gently lift up at the rear of the panel. It'll come right off.

PM sent.

Torx replacement is the bolt M5 x 0.8 mm. Push pins are push pins not bolts.

I got a set of medical hemostats that were on surplus sale from an emergency war surgery kit in my tool box. Just a little work on the end of one with a file and you got a fine push pin remover. The medical instruments are all stainless steel and very high quality. I got them to hold wires for soldering, but they are great for removing push pins too. Old surplus dental tools that you can sometimes find on the surplus websites have a place in a tool box too. The stainless steel picks you hate in the dentist office work great for lot of small jobs, like cleaning crud out of the heads of torx screws and hex bit screws.
