• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have you noticed a decrease in mileage?? I went from 27 to 18, and I'm wondering if it could be as simple as a bad gas cap - sucking my gas out of the overflow..

Any thoughts???

I get around 22---- I don't think yanking the can is what is doing it in my case---- I've got my fuel PSI set @ 63 ----- so I'm running too rich--- just need to check my plugs and adjust sometime.....

Perhaps with the update to the update that will help MPG ?? :dontknow:

We have gotten 26-30 since day one. Only one fill in two years was over 31 mpg. Average for that period was 28.9 mpg. Upon complaining, I was told that BRP tech support said it was in the "normal" range, so they told the dealer not to address it. When I asked, they said the "normal" range was 16-40 mpg. I'm sure you have something wrong, possibly the throttle position sensor calibration or a bad purge valve, but you are unlikely to get BRP to deal with it. Maybe you would stand a chance if you reported it to Carlo. A change like that is not "normal".

My milage is unchanged.

You might want to tape a small container to the end of the tank vent hose and take a ride just to see if there is gas getting out that way......I'd bet not. The problem is probably somewhere else.

That is quite a range!! I almost always get in the high 20's and low to mid 30's and that is carrying a passenger. I do use 91 octane fuel (not trying to start another octane war) and I am still able to always get pure gasoline (no alcohol). I think that makes a difference. I have gotten in the lower/mid 20's on a few rides when it is windy and in Oklahoma it can get real windy. nojoke

My MPG increased from 31 to 35 after plugging the fuel vapor line AND stopping oil from entering the airbox AND having DPS Recall #1 performed.
(sorry, not sure which affected the MPG)

Just had DPS update #2 done and re-connected the fuel vapor line, but haven't ridden enough miles to determine if MPG has been affected.

My evap can is gone and before the last update I was getting 30-32, now that I've had the last update I'm back up to 36+. Not sure why but those are my results to date.

The evap can isn't going to affect mileage one way or the other. If you numbers are correct then you need to look elsewhere.

After 5 days the dealer couldn't find a problem. Contacted Carlo, and the response was blindly fast (thanks Carlo!), but offered noting the dealer hadn't already tried.

The dealer refused to try the new update, as the list of VIN #s allowed skipped mine, and the fumes are still there, after all of this... which is why I raised the question.

Now my K1200LT, out weighs the Spyder, and out performs it in almost all ways, and gives me an average of 55mpg, and my old Valk (GL1500C), which has 6 carburetors, gives me 35 - even my old Hardley V-rod gave me over 33.. Lot's of benchmarks, but I'm out of ideas.

I live in an area where this kind of milage forces the Spyder to stay home most of the time, and only get used for puttering around town (where it's milage is even worse).

Any way - any suggestions and ideas are welcome - I'm going to tear back into it myself this weekend...

Your dealer refused to do the original DPS software update--- or the 2nd update??

Your Vin # shouldn't matter--- pretty sure they were doing the DPS update to ALL Spyders--- and the 2nd update for those that were having problems--- mostly folks running aftermarket pipes.

But them moving the vent line is something I find very interesting.... that should have nothing to do with performance.

They did the first one - that's where the milage went from 27 to 18... , it was the update to the update that was "declined".

How in the world can they "Decline" an update SPECIFICALLY designed to correct issues introduced from the 1st update?

Does your dealership live on this planet or just work here?

I am getting the two updates done today. I am only getting 22 mpg (se5,city driving only, stock). Hoping these updates will improve mpg and not DECREASE it any lower like yours!

I'm getting 32=39 mpg, before and after update. With high w/shield highway drops to 36 mpg. ALL STOCK, i do use 93 octane.
With a 10+ compresion you need at least 89 octane, like my dodge
hemi. I use 93 because most times the last user pumps 87 so whats
in the line will lower 93 some what . I have 8,600 + miles on the spyder.

Not to start the octane debate again-- but the Spyder runs just dandy on 87 as called for in the manual. There's more to consider than just compression. There are V4 engines that are 13 compression that only require 87...

That's pretty good MPG you're getting. Seems most are in the low 30's.

As with anything in life--- your mileage may vary----- :roflblack:

Quote: "Your VIN # was specifically excluded from this update"

Best I understand it, the first and second updates were VIN number exclusive. The bulletin simply said to get the first update done because of possible stearing issues. Period. Then the second was to correct some issues resulting from the first. Period. I think you have a dealer with Spyder information difficiencies. AKA failure to read BRP supplied data on Spyders. I would call BRP on this dealer, ASAP!
