• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

May have found my problem....

After much searching trying to resolve my surging issue. I may have found the problem. I questioned numerous SpyderLovers about this problem. Thanks to HDXBONES and others the consensus was a vacuum leak. All the vacuum hoses were intact so far as I could find, but when I pulled the cover off the air box. There is no gasket. I've pulled the cover on the air box off 4 or 5 times since I've had the Spyder and it has never had a gasket. I justed assumed my Spyder would come with all its parts. Dumb me! I should have looked at the parts list sooner. I'll be contacting my dealer and get one ordered today. I sure hope this fixes my problem.

Are you referring to the thin black rubber seal that's seated in a groove along the edge of the airbox lid, or something else?

Normally problem vacuum leaks come from hoses that are connected somewhere between the throttle plate and the valves and operate things by use of manifold vacuum.
A gasket on the air box, if I am reading you right, is above the throttle plate(s?) by the air filter and while it may let air in without going through the air filter, it is not going to cause surging or running problems.

I don't think that's your problem. Many have removed the intake tubes to run better---- which would let far more air in than that seal leaking would.

Sure you don't just have the 'DPS update sputter' that most of us do ?

I have always had the surging, even before the update. A service tech told me to check the air box seal (gasket). I finally called Lamonster, after 3 different tech's told me 3 different things to check. I took Lamonster's advice and finally did the purge valve fix. I rode over 90 miles last night. Most of it hwy miles, but the few miles I rode at lower speeds. I did not get any surging. I also changed my setting on the JB to .5,3,6,7,.5,.5. This is the best my :spyder2: has ever run. It was way more responsive than ever before. I'm going to do some more ryding around town this evening after work to see if it keeps running good.

Thought you had already done the fix:dontknow: That was your vacuum leak.....Glad to hear it's better now:thumbup: Smylin's JB settings are close to those, also- it's running great nowadays
If he had the problem before the first update I'm thinking he may have had a bad purge valve to start with.
