Hi all,
Even though I sold my Spyder and bought a new Harley (2010 Softail Custom) I still look forward to checking in on Spyderlovers each morning and reading all the threads. I particularly enjoy the new RT associated excitement. The RT is without a doubt a beautiful machine and something I definitely would have traded my SM5 for since the vast amount of my riding is touring. That being said I am enjoying my Harley tremendously. I must admit I am a two wheel person at heart and that love has been renewed when I go around the twisties on my Harley. My last Harley was in 1991 and it is unbelievable the difference in those short 18 years. The Softail has the 96B engine which means it is counterbalanced and unbelievable smooth. No more shaking of the bars and shield and everything else when sitting at a stop light. Since 1991 I owned BMW's (K100, K75, K1100, R1150RT, R1200C, R1150GS, R1200GS) and the Spyder and I had forgot how easy a Harley corners when compared to the taller and higher center of gravity of the BMW's (except for the R1200C "crusier" that was similar to the Harley). Don't get me wrong I loved the BMW's and Spyder (heck I love all cycles) but the Harley gives me the same confidence when going around curves that the Spyder delivered but with a much more fluid motion. Enough of my rambling - just missed the Spyder group and wanted to say "hey". I wish you all safe and trouble free riding and look forward to reading your road experiences with the new RT.
