• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trip Odometer A

For 2 mornings in a row, when I start my Spyder, I find that Trip Odometer "A" has mysteriously reset itself to "0". Both times, I only pushed the mode button 1 time as part of the starting procedure, and I didn't hold it.

Has this happened to anyone else? I was using A for tracking my miles on the tank, since my fuel gauge is way off. I guess I'll need to switch to using B.

Are you using the Mode button the barsv or the dash?
Ive noticed my dash button sometimes registers a double hit, or is real sensitive. I never use it anymore, just the one on the bars.

Lamonster and several others found that the magnets in the rubber dash buttons were prone to slipping, causing multiple or constant switch engagement. This my be related to your issue.

Perhaps Lamonster can refresh us as to the fix?

Sometimes the mode button in the dash sticks. Try lubing it with some silicone. This may not be the problem, but it has happened to others and a little lube can't hurt.

Hey folks! Pay attention. She already said that she had only used the button on the handlebar and had not used the one on the dash.

True, but I think the point is the magnet on the dash button can slip or come lose (even if you don't use it) which makes it act like you are holding it in.

I think Lamont had to take the rubber button cover off and re-attach the magnet on his. It was giving him fits.

Interesting. I think the thing to do would be for me to make sure my trip odometers are not the active view when I turn the beast off. Then if the button is sticking upon start-up, it won't clear them.

Thanks.

Exactly. Being magnetic it could get affected by water under the button, too. I never use the set button since the initial startup, but my display went whacko all of a sudden, and it was the "S" button. Water in the handlebar switch will do this, too, as can a chafed wire.

A very good idea. I would suggest leaving it in a position that cannot be reset, like the total hours or total mileage...at least until you find the reason or report it to your dealer.

Karen, this is totally off the topic, for which I apologise, but on a different post today you mentioned that you were having trouble using your brake. Due to a recently broken leg, i believe, you find it hard to bend your toe in. I solved a similar problem with a short length of 1/4 inch by 1 inch flatbar, appropriatey drilled for fasteners. The rubber pad was removed and the extender bar brought up under the pad mount. I used number 5 bolts and took care to drill all 4 holes accurately. Again, sorry for butting in.

Last night I put the display on total mileage before turning off Spydie, and this morning after I got rolling, I checked Trip A and it was not reset to zero. So maybe there is a little "stick" in my handlebar mode button. I'll keep an eye on it and mention it to the dealer/service next time I'm in there.

It could be a problem with either of the buttons that control this funcion. Great job of outsmarting the "Issue" at least until you can get it checked.

This is what the American spirit is all about. Do the best you can to deal with it yourself and not sit around waiting for the government, manufacturer or Dealer to take care of it.

It's called self reliance, ingenuity and a "Get-er-done" attitude!

It is what has made America great!

I love it!
