• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I went to start it to take it to church and when I turned the key on it shows to be in 1st gear and of course it will not start. How do I get it in neutral to allow it to start ..??
any help is appreciated..!
thanks

not starting

At this point I would try disconnecting the battery, give it at least 5 minutes and reconnect. Hopefully will reset the computer.

YOUR NO START ISSUE

I still don’t understand why this occurred..??
When I purchased my new 2104 RT the dealer didn't charge the Battery properly :banghead::banghead::banghead: .... I found this out on my way home to Vermont from Illinois ..... I stopped in a parking lot and didn't put the SE trans in neutral ..... so it was still in gear .... when I went to re-start the trans DIDN'T AUTOMATICALLY put the trans into Neutral and it therefore wouldn't start - I had my foot on the brake but it still wouldn't start ..... A nice Guy stopped and gave me a JUMP - it started it instantly ...... So imho, if your battery isn't good it may not have the power to switch into Neutral automatically ..... Mike

It takes no battery power to switch to neutral. It's hydraulic.

You need to explain in more detail what you mean by will not start. So you turn on the key. Press the mode button when asked on the screen. Make sure the engine stop switch is in the run position. Press down on the brake pedal. Press the engine start button. What happens then? Absolutely nothing happens? Or do you hear a click noise? Or do you hear a click noise and gauge display goes blank and reboots?

when I last parked it I intentionally didn’t set the parking brake so I could roll it to get to the rear tire to check my tire pressure. Not sure if that had anything to do with it ..?
That wouldn't make a difference. I always park mine in my garage with the brake off so I can move it around.

OK help me to understand what moves the Hydraulic fluid so it moves the transmission into Neutral ....... Thanks .... Mike

The engine starts first. That spins the oil pump in the HCM. That creates oil pressure. When the engine reaches idle speed for the first time after start. The shift computer tells the HCM to shift into neutral.

If the OP disconnected and reconnected the battery as suggested and the Spyder started it's possible one of the terminal connections had loosened just enough to interrupt the healthy jolt needed to start it and reconnecting the cables solved the problem. We won't know until he confrims what action(s) he took that solved the problem.

His post is not clear. So loose cable, could be? That has the same symptoms as a dead battery. There was no description of what happened when it would not start.

Disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes is just a waste of time. But could have fixed it accidently this time.
