• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Cool Air Intake

I put that unit in a few weeks ago, (I live in Florida, and its way hot and humid here right now), but I honestly have not experianced any difference in any area with it. Might work for some, and I'm sure I am getting cooler air in when driving, but again, nothing significant that I have noticed.

No, I haven't had any issues with rain, bugs or leaves. I was wondering the same thing. I guess it wouldn't be hard to place some kind of screen over the plastic intake before placeing the rubber hose over it. I wonder if panty hose would work?

You could use outerwears prefilter.

Yesturday, it was 87 degrees with 70% humidity and I mean stop and go traffice, sitting still, drive 10 feet, stop, drive another 10 feet, stop. Before the intake, my spyder would have reached 5-7 bars on the temp gauge.

Remember, it may be warm outside, but thats no comparrison to the temperature of the engine compartment.

So you were going into limp mode? Pretty sure 7 bars = automatic limp mode.

Some good points about sitting still--- obviously no extra really cool air coming in while sitting or crawling. My dual cold air intakes didn't change engine temp 1 bit--- that really isn't the goal--- the goal was burning cooler air because it burns better--- hence why cyro systems are popular.

Yes, it went into limp mode twice. I'm also considering switching the coolant to Engine Ice, I've had sucess running that in my ZRX1200 at the strip. This is the first bike I've owned where the engine is completely enclosed.

Yeah--- that rotax is really crammed in there under the tupperware. If you're in stop and go traffic a lot - you might want to look into a fan modification so you can kick it on sooner.

Chances are you have a fan relay acting up if you're getting to 7 bars, I never get more than 5 bars.

Nope, that's the first thing I checked. It has not happened since the cool air intake installation, up to 800 miles tested, no problems, I actually saw 4 bars yesturday on the temp gauge, but that didn't last long. I still have not experienced any more surging while stopped, that was a real problem when the bike heated up. Now, if I can just figure out whats going on with with fuel tank, I still haven't been able to put 6.5 gallons of gas in, the most I got into the tank so far was 5.90 and a 32 ounce bottle that a buddy filled up after I ran out?

We have alot of construction areas around Johnstown, especially Route 30, its a great road but there is always construction somewhere. :D

In that case I'd have the dealer check for a bad water pump or stuck thermostat. Having seven bars frequently, even in stop and go, especially in your part of the country, is not normal.

The gas thing doesn't surprise me. Others have reported 6.1-6.3 after running out. Only one I know of has reported more. The tank vents slowly, and it is sometimes hard to fill when near the top. Shouldn't be pushed beyond the "no-lead" ring, anyway. With your total of 6.15 gallons, you are typical. IMO the 6.6 BRP claims includes the head space. I know I'll get an argument on that, though.

I've never seen anybody report getting 6.5 gallons in the tank. I can get around 6 gallons in if I run it near empty and carefully fill it "to the brim".

I think you're accurate. Most manufacturer's include the entire interior space even though there is a 5% ~ 10% expansion space that you can't get fuel into.

Where can I get one since summer is coming down here and need one.:ohyea:

I bought the MMG cool air intake from Mel's Monster Garage on EBay for $85 plus shipping and the Green performance air filter from ESI Cycle Products (a Sponser on this site) for $64.95
