• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Highest mileage on ONE Spyder

I am knocking on the door of 100,000 miles on my 2014 Spyder RTS. I was curious about how many miles others have put on one Spyder? I was told by Can-Am that Fred Rau reached 250,000 miles. However, these miles were logged on several Spyders.
 
I put 123,000 on my 14 RT before I sold it last year. I have 225,000 total Spyders since 2010. There is another 14 RT with somewhere around 145,000 miles last time he posted.

we need to have a yearly mileage report posting, that each one can enter their mileage. would be fun to see where each stands.

I also have a Honda NT700V, which their website is very similar, and we do mileage. also under forum section, we have tabs, "my threads", and "my replies". we need to have that function turned on, helps navigation

I have 343 miles on my 2008GS purchased in Jan 2009. I'm trying to keep it in pristine condition.

That would be me. I bought my Pearl White RT-S in June '14. Right now as it sits
in my garage in Ohio it has just turned over 148,000 miles. I may get to add to this today
since it's 58 outside! I haven't reached 50,000 in one riding season yet but if my health
and my Spyders, I will. I want to see 200,000 on my odometer.
I"ve had a very few problems with it, but nothing with the engine. Just keep good oil in it.
It's never failed to start. Been the best cycle I've ever owned.
I'm planning to ride to Spyderfest with 3 others in May. Might see you there!

Maybe I'll write a monthly report on miles, and any issues I may ride into.
I have the OEM rear wheel bearings. My next tire change I'll have those
replaced too.
In July '16 I averaged 2000 miles a week. I rode 17, 2000 mile weeks that
summer and ended that season with over 48,000 miles.
It's what I do.

I only replaced the rear wheel bearings once, mostly because others were changing them quite often, they were fine when I changed them and still were when I sold the Spyder.

I think this is a great subject but would like to see what parts were replaced in there millage like belt, wheal bearings etc and if it was necessary or for preventive maintenance such as what Buckeye and Ann have reported. This would also give a heads up for what items to watch for and at what millage.

I have a friend that you would get along well with. He has a 2003 Saleen convertible with all the bells. It is a one of color combination and he has 425+- miles. He also purchased a 2001 PT Cruiser when they first came out (they were hard to get back then). It has 70 miles and still has the plastic on the seats. 2 years ago he picked up some sort of twin turbo V8 mercedes. He drove it to his wedding and once again after that for a total of less than 150 miles. I always said that he must have grown up poor and couldn't afford toys. So when he finally made it, he just purchased the real thing.
 
Parts and maintenance.

As far as oil, I used the BRP XPS oil for about 90,000 miles but changed to
Amsoil. The man who owns the land behind my place sells it and sold me on it.
I used it before on several of my bikes and never had any problems with it. My
second season I had the DESS issues. After weeks they finally replaced the module.
I had the compressor for the rear suspension replaced in '16. Then the air bag in '17.
The Spyder had starting issues starting last year. It would start just fine, in the morning
but after riding, then stopping for a short time, it would crank and crank. Finally it
would start. This is still going on. I was told it was the vapor canister and the air
filter with it was plugged, that has yet to be resolved. The dealer called BRP and they
authorized replacing the fuel pump. Good thing, my stock fuel gauge before would just
show 2/3 tank when full. The sending unit was replaced as well but now it's doing it again.
Windshield bracket replaced after 70,000 or so. Headlight bulbs, this was a headache.
Replacing 2 or 3 a year but now I bought LED bulbs, headlight and running light. No
problems since.
I've tried all sorts of tires. The OEM Kenda front tires lasted over 23,000 miles so I
tried them again. Mistake, the second set started cupping at 1000 miles, were toast
at 5000. I then tried Kumho Solus, good tires and long lasting but needed balancing
every 10,000 miles or so. The first set lasted 48,000 miles, second 46,000. Now I
have a new set of Federal Formoza AZ01 165-55-15 replaced early this winter.
I run General Altimax RT 43 210-60-15 in the rear. At $58 each and lasting 24,000 to
27.000, I can live with that. The drive belt lasted 108,000 and was replaced with the
stock BRP belt.
I've been very lucky with this bike. I think the BRP employees must have received a
raise and more vacation time when they made mine. Maybe a Folsom Golden party
and RUSH performing?
I have health issues and this is the probably last year I'm able to ride. Certainly the
last bike I'll ever own. But I think 50,000 miles this year is reachable.

I used Amsoil from the first oil change on, had the original belt on it and never had an issue with my air bag or compressor. I’ve listed my tires in another thread so I won’t repeat that info here. Twice I had an issue with overheating which turned out to be caused by riding on dirt roads in the rain. The radiators got clogged so there was not sufficient air flow, the first time cleared on its own and the second time the radiators were replaced during Honecoming.

I had the right headlight go out three times and it finally fused the connectors so the entire assembly was replaced under warranty. The left saddlebag hinge broke and was replaced under warranty, I overloaded the door which broke the hinge. I had a couple of parts on the clutch wear out over the years and right before I sold it the main bearing was replaced. While the engine was out I had the original clutch plates replaced. Windshield bracket was fine, I always ran with it about an inch up from the lowest position.

It was was a great bike and I would have no issues with taking it across country tomorrow but I needed to get the F3 for our business.

Should hit 100K this year

2014 RTS with 78K and no issues other than DESS several years ago. Replaced belt as preventive maintenance at 55K. Still runs great and would probably have passed 100K already if my wife didn't let me take her 2016 F3L out all the time!

Chuck has been written about in two different MC magazine because of his lifelong passion for "Riding Without A Destination"
I can attest to his miles on the odometer, but the remarkable part of the story is he is almost incapable of walking, but his strength of character keeps him moving toward that next non-destination.
