• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Toy Hauler

Negotiations are ongoing at this time...
Truthfully: I'd rather ride!
But sleeping in the rig would save money... :dontknow:

It is a great way to travel Bob. Pull in to a Walmart or truck stop while traveling and your home. I do this when on the road and stay at an RV park

when I arrive at destination. No bags to haul up and down and the beer is already cold and in the fridge.

Secondly you are much better rested when you arrive at your destination and can enjoy yourself more.

Is that the ZX?
I would LOVE to have been able to find one of them...

I wonder why they quit selling that model?
Well..... I will be selling it this summer. I want to take one more trip to Big Bend for some Milky Way photos.

It's an AWESOME RV. Kodiak C5500 diesel is ridiculously powerful.

I think they quit making them in this configuration because the lift gate is very well made, expensive, and they probably couldn't compete with the cheaper style ramps. Plus.... they are known to have barely adequate rear suspension. The toy hauler version usually needs an upgraded rear suspension, which I've already done. Then.... 2008/9 was the last toy hauler model. NOT a great year of "extra spending" going on in the world with the economy then.

The Volvo is the most popular of the OTR trucks for towing RV's. The wife and I loved ours when we had it.

There is lots of info on the web, here is one site:

Well Camille will never believe what I am buying next. I want one with auto transmission though. At my age one does not know if he will live long enough to go through all the gears! :joke:

Our Volvo had auto-shift, which means you only had to use the clutch to start moving and when coming to a stop. The rest of the time it shifted up and down automatically as needed. The wife still has no manual shift experience but had no problem with the clutch starting and stopping the truck. It actually computer shifted the same transmission as a manual and looked, felt and sounded as if we were manually shifting, except it almost never missed a gear. It was a 2000 model year, the later models have been full automatic with no clutch pedal, unless the buyer is some kind of throwback and insist on a manual transmission.

Unless you think of it in terms of spending $180,000 for a motorhome so you can save $120/night for 100 nights a year! Let's see, after 15 years you'll break even! :roflblack:

But like Jack says, ease and comfort of RV travel beats out plane, rent car, and hotel any month, but I don't know that first hand. I have been told though, by full time RVer's, if you don't own a home full time living in an RV is comparable to home living when all costs are considered.

You're gonna get me in more trouble than my Missus can stand! :lecturef_smilie::shocked:
Rear suspension? When I load the Spyder: I'm already within 500 pounds of the GVW limit... :gaah:

This "disease" is called "inch-itis" in the RV World. We always want a few more inches if not feet. I started with a 27' Coronado and wound up 7 motorhomes later with a 40' diesel pusher. Now this is my third toy hauler. Started with a 18EC (20') Work and Play, next 30' Work and Play and picking up my new 36' Shockwave today.

Unless I over farkle the Spyder I should be OK. The new one has a 3650# CCC. :D 12,100# GVWR

we too are picking up our new Toyhauler today as well..,!! We started out many years ago with a small (very small) pop-up and over the years felt the need to get more room to the one we’re picking up today which is 40 ft. Long ..! Should be great though and the garage is 12.5ft derp so plenty of room for the 🕷 ..!
congrats on your new camper and I share your excitement today .,!!
