There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Steering Recall .. Check Engine Light

Sixty miles after I had the Steering recall done, my "check Engine" light came on and remains on. I've disconnnected the battery and let it stand awhile hoping that it would reset the ecu? No help - engine light still on. Dealer told me that BRP told them it is because I have an aftermarket pipe on it! .. :dontknow:

Dealer said that I and one other Spyder owner are the only ones who have had problems with the recall and we were the only ones with aftermarket pipes on. She has Micron and I have Remus!!

QUESTONS:
1 .. Anyone else had problem with "check engine" light coming on after the steering recall?
2 .. If so, do you have an aftermarket pipe on????
3 .. Or, do you think that BRP is giving out som BS?! :gaah:

1 .. Anyone else had problem with "check engine" light coming on after the steering recall? No check engine light, but only 30 miles since recall

2 .. If so, do you have an aftermarket pipe on???? 2Bros dual carbon pipes
3 .. Or, do you think that BRP is giving out som BS?! :gaah: I think they are giving out BS. Why didnt they tell us the recall did other things instead of just the steering problem.

So let me get this straight.....

BRP thinks problems can be caused by an aftermarket pipe????

Is this the only vehicle we can't put aftermarket parts on without running into problems?

Someone out there tell me of a bike or trike that has this many problems by putting an aftermarket pipe on.

Insane. BRP needs to learn to make nice w/ all the aftermarket guys because many people do not keep their bikes/toys stock these days. That's the beauty of aftermarket - individualism!

same thing

hevnbound and i go to the same dealer. they told me that too, that is was because of my micron pipe. they told me maybe i should put the stock back on...per brp rep. my dealer also told me that the rep told me to block the hose to the throttle body-which no one seems to know what the heck they are talking about. i called my dealer today and told her i need more specifics about this hose "fix". she asked her mechanic and he said "WHAT???? i don't know how you go about doing that and i wouldn't!!!!" i wish she would've asked her mechanic first before telling me that nonsense, before my hubby and i took all my panels off and dug around in the bike for an hour. they told me just to bring it back monday and leave it for a day. okaydokay. i will try disconnecting the battery again but for a longer time than the 15 minutes. i know i know some of you said that doesn't work but i'm hoping mine don't know that and fixes itself anyway!;)

hevnbound mine started doing it about 30 miles from dealership. my check engine light does not stay on all the time but it does keep coming on after the bike is at 5 bars and in lower gears.

First , the dealer can grab the fault code out of the computer and see what it says, did they do that , let us know what the code is. If it shows lean mixture out of range then they may be correct. Also check all your exhaust gaskets to make sure you have none of the other common leaks where they join. And lastly make sure they reset the GPS and TPS switches using the BUDS. If they didn't do that it will also cause issues, that step must be done last.
As for the recall , there is no question they are running lean after the recall. I don't care what anyone says , its way lean and high flow pipes are making it really show. Stock pipe is fine ,With the hindle its right on the ragged edge of too lean (search the forums and see the results after the recall with guys with hindles) and your pipe (IN MY OPINION ONLY) flows just a bit more and its throwing a code. My plugs are WHITE as a ghost now.

Ok here is my question. So I'm going into my dealer for the steering update tommorrow. I'm not sure if this will include the o2 sensor update as well, but I will inform on this. Either way, if I have these problems after the update using my "Canam Hindle exhaust" which I purchased from BRP, then how can the hindle purchase be justified, if I have to go back to the stock exhaust to make it run better? I guess I'll know once the update is done if my spyder will run different or not. I guess what I'm hearing is that the hindle could turn out to have been a waste of money and should not have been sold by BRP in the first place IMHO. I guess I"m just confused!

This is confusing. I have the Hindle, and have had the update. No problems.

I'm glad for me. But I don't understand all these problems post update that others are having. :dontknow:
