• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Good Morning, hope everyone is riding. It's another beautiful day in ChicagoLand and it's gonna warm up again soon.

I've often wondered when you are riding along in 5th gear can you put her in neutral from 5th to coast like you can in a car. PS I have set paddle shifter.

Thanks Mike

No

No I just don't think it can be done with our type of transmissions.

It would cause----------Kaos

While most of us have done this over the years in our cars (and perhaps motorcycles too!); it's usually a better idea to be able to power-away from a problem, with your right wrist.

Also agree, not a good idea to go neutral when highway driving. When you need power, you need power.

I had a Saab, 4 on a tree that had the "freewheeling" feature. When on, you just had to lift off the accelerator and it would automatically coast. The feature did not save many mpg--it already got 35-40 and gas was about 35 cents a gallon in those days.

When parking on a hill one time, I forgot to engage the handbrake. My Saab started rolling backwards down the hill. Never used "freewheeling" after that.

Was that because you "used to have) a Saab? :roflblack:

NO. Well not unless you click it DOWN the right number of times.
And depending on your speed, the computer might not LET you shift down too many gears.

Neutral is below 1st and that's the ONLY way to get there.

Ahhh..!!

Gotta love the manual...just pull in the clutch and coast, release and power out...:roflblack: eat your hearts out se ryders...:roflblack: do agree not a good idea to go to neutral even on the manual I only pull in the clutch...
