• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ear Plugs

I only ride with ear plugs. I use the squishy foam ones and when they get dirty I toss em. Fancy ear plugs are just that.....fancy. They will not withstand a higher decibel sound any more then the cheap (and disposable) foam plugs.

OK 2Paw, those look like they are some really smart earplugs, much like the very expensive (& well worth it!) 'Musicians earplugs', plugs that block the damaging volume & frequencies but thru some smart technology allow the necessary vocal & musical frequencies thru at safe volumes so that trained & sensitive ears aren't damaged!! It seems those in the link might do the same, but to a lesser extent!! ;)

But you hafta wonder about their packaging don't you?? After all, if they give you THREE 'ear plugs'..... just WHERE do they expect you to stick the third?? :shocked:

I use the same ones, yellow foam. When I worked in the steel mill they gave them to us by the handfuls, now I buy them at the shooting sports stores.

Strange Ear Canal

I have an odd-shaped ear canal. I have little luck getting sponge plugs to fit properly so I had my audiologist make me a custom pair. They work great. Pricey, but most hearing loss is irreversible, so I consider it a worthwhile investment.

Customs

I purchased some custom made plugs at the Sturgis Motorcycle rally a few years ago and the are awesome. They where form fitted and poured in my ears. I will say they where about $200 and when I was on two wheels I needed them. Now with my F3T it pretty quiet. My customs are now on my night stand for when the wife starts snoring!😎

My wife has the same issue with her ears canal being very small. We had trouble finding a good earplug to fit her well. I bought a pair of FUZE earphones for her and they actually work pretty well. They allow her to plug into her SENA headset so she can hear me and with the goop that you put around them, they seal off the ear pretty well. She has been very happy with them. YMMV....

i gotta ask ?

why do you need plugs again ? { I can see me using them on the 2 wheeler , it is a bit loud , due too the exhaust pipe ... but the :spyder2: is dang quite ... there is the engine noise at high rpms, and going 55 or faster ... I just not sure if it is ear plug necessity ? { now the poor fellow that lives in mckenny --2paw-- over near plano texas ... I bet the highway noise of Texans in a hurry too get where they are going is a bit loud :p }

For me, and I think probably most people that use earplugs, it's about the wind noise and not the bike or environment noise.

I try to stay off those highways, and it can be done, it's the wind noise.;)
