Can-Am Spyder trailer

I know that many of you have connections to sources that I don't, so I will ask the question pertaining to the title of this post.

They used to offer the 622 trailer, then the Freedom trailer, now the website does not list any trailer at all. Does anyone know of an offering to come for this void?

I know and understand the value that sellers are putting on the used units, but frankly, do I want to pay the new price for a used unit? I may have to. They know what they have and they deserve to get it, but as long as there is not a new alternative used prices are premium.

Yes, second or third hand Can Am trailers tend to hold good value. Granted Can Am did offer a discounted price when they clearanced the last of the new RT622 trailer. Thing is though, if you apply the 50% guideline, a new non discounted RT622 retailed over $4000 if I recall correctly. So to see them selling solidly in the $2500 range with a couple hundred dollars in add ons is kind of close to the 50% guideline. Being desirable and less common adds a bit too.

Not sure though what Can Am is doing with the current Freedom Trailer. I will say that the black may be better to market as less inventory is needed, and they use the optional stripe kits to personalize the trailer. Myself, just not sure pulling a black trailer is wise, especially at night.

Recently purchased a Freedom Trailer

I had to look awhile, but found one within 200 miles from where we live. It was new (in the crate) 2015 Freedom Trailer. We picked it up about a month ago and used it on a 1200+ mile trip to/from Spyderfest. Worked great - nice to have the room on a long trip. The 622's are very nice as well, hard to find - sometimes they come up for sale here on Spyderlovers. I checked the volume capacity: 622: 22 cubic feet of space, Freedom: 20 cubic feet of space. I was surprise on the room available in our Freedom Trailer and it's a lower profile trailer to pull. Being so low, it has less wind resistance and allows our RT's rear lights to be seen as it does not block those lights.

BTW: there is currently a Can-Am promotion going on for $350 off their new trailers.....(obviously, it came after I bought mine! LOL)

I agree, not many color choices...we purchased a black trailer as that color works with either of our bikes. The back of the trailer with the tail lights and license plate light allows for good night visibility. However, I agree, anything you can do to make yourself more visible (either day or night) is a good thing. We have the third high mount brake light on the RT as well.

Not sure about new ones, but there has been a 622 trailer on the Columbia, SC craigslist for about 3-4 weeks now. They were asking $2000. I think that is a great price on that trailer, I am just not in the market for one right now.
If I was looking a can am trailer, the 622 would have been my choice when I had my RT. But now that I have a F3T, I would go with a freedom trailer because the tail lights match better.

Agree the Freedom does sit lower and may offer slightly better seeing the RT tailights, but overall, the trailer lights on the RT622 are higher up than the Freedom Trailer. So this seems a moot point. But important for some.

Your photo represents the type of angle where an oncoming driver could easily not see your black Freedom Trailer and possibly turn into it, T Bone the trailer or being so low back into or over it. Regardless, trailers are cool and glad to see you enjoy yours.

They moved the front sidelights on the Freedom to the trailer tongue and incorporated the rear sidelights into the tail lights - maybe less obvious for people turning into you - good point....I think SpyderAnn mentioned that she did not like the side lights on the 622 as they stuck out a little and real "shin buster". :yikes:

Anyways...I will be careful - good to get the good feedback on some of the issues that may arise! Thanks.:thumbup: Maybe look for strategic spots for relective tape!!

They moved the front sidelights on the Freedom to the hitch for the front sidelights and incorporated the rear sidelights into the tail lights - maybe less obvious for people turning into you - good point....I think SpyderAnn mentioned that she did not like the side lights on the 622 as they stuck out a little and real "shin buster". :yikes:

Not sure how you could smack a shin, maybe she is well experienced in Yoga or something that makes her flexible enough to have shin contact.

Like the Freedom Trailer, if you do not lift your foot high enough over the trailers tongue, then you can smack your shins...in that case, maybe Yoga should be practiced.

BTW, we looked for both a used 622 Trailer and a new Freedom Trailer. Cruzr Joe's post was good to read to see the differences between the two trailer...I think I'll miss the front hatch the most with our Freedom Trailer...

I had left my shocks on the mid setting until we started carrying laser tools around the country, now I have them set on the highest setting.

I remember whacking my leg into the original lights as well. I have since updated to some low profile led. The originals did protrude out past the shell a bit. Maybe it's a tall person thing, if memory serves Ann doesn't ask anyone to get stuff off the top shelf for her?

My 2016 RTS and My freedom trailer are both black. SpyderPops has a fix for additional lighting which I have for both the bike and the trailer. Though I try not to ride at night, on occasion I'm just out a little later than usual. Light it up, you can be seen. A red fire truck looks black in the dark !!

Yes, I mentioned that in post #3 in this thread as I got the email on 5-1-17 about 2 weeks after I bought my trailer!! pps: I found it difficult to find one locally and one of the dealers was quoting 4 weeks for delivery.....

Although I missed out on BRP's recent promo, the dealer gave me a similar amount to move his inventory since this one is a 2015 Freedom - it was still in the crate and assembled it prior to me picking it up...I'm sure there's not much to assemble!
