yosh pipe blew up, NMN help!

exhuast was a little loud on a quick 30 one way ride, when I got to a buddy of mine I looked down and this happened see the first pic. Drove 30 miles back home and then exhaust when to pic #2.I left a message with NMN who I bought this one new from about a month ago.I remember seeing a pic of a yosh that had blew up in a similar way after I bought it.

When expressing my displeasure with the two bros pipe to two bros they said that they only make dual pipes now for the spyder because of the back pressure issue.

WTF should I do about this, I have had several different bikes and have never had exhaust issues like this.

Track use only on the side? who drives like a little only lady on the track.
IF I had modified the exhaust in anyway that is the risk you take with that but I am NOT running NOS or using the spyder outside of what it is made for, its a motorcycle* and the yosh should hold up or be able to handle day to day use.

Let's be honest here...it's likely that the things you are doing to your bike are stressing out your exhaust perhaps a little too much. I did enjoy the video but you are racing on a track, and that is not normal road use...

Sorry for your problems - but I must also agree about the track usage. I also think the pipe should hold up better than it has. The fact of the matter is that you have put your warranty in jeopardy by going to a track and then posting videos of it. I guarantee that if you had some engine or tranny problem and BRP was aware of the off-road use they would deny the warranty claim.

That being said - I ride mine like it was stolen most of the time---- but I'm not gonna give BRP any proof of that----

I did not smack it with a tree branch off roading or roll my spyder and smash it up, I drove with it on there, Tires, oil. belts and sprokets are things that wear out because they move and power is applied to them but a pipe, come on.
Who else has blown a pipe on their bikes, a pipe made for the bike it is MADE for!!!

I agree with you SethO. Supposedly that's what these aftermarket pipes were made for as the are not street legal. It says so right on the pipe. Maybe racing exhausts are considered a consumable product, only good for a few runs or races. :dontknow:

I've had quite a few pipes but I have more miles on my Yoshi than any other pipe. The only thing I can think of is with the tunning you've been doing you have some backfires that loosen the rivets and after time blew the pipe apart. :dontknow:

Mine is a carbon Yoshi and if anything pipe should have came apart it should have been the carbon. I think you'll have a hard time getting that covered under warranty Bro but who knows.

By the way Magic Man is heading to Sturgis right now.

I have seen many manufacturers exhausts blow apart on the Spyder. There are only a few the consistently hold up.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't believe ANY of these aftermarket pipes (except the Hindle) were specifically designed for use on the Spyder.

I believe TBR no longer does a single can setup due to back pressure issues - so they now only sell the twin setup.

Even though this may seem like a Big Twin issue it's not, My 109 is just shy of 1800cc's and aftermarket pipes hold up just fine with it. I have about 15,000 miles or so on my Yoshi and it's holding up great. I think he has another problem, could be a lean condition or a backfire that's causing his pipes to blow. Either way it's not the norm for the end caps to blow off on a 998cc v-twin.

I'm not trying to give you grief but you're doing many things to the bike that after-market companies are putting together, not the manufacturer of the bike. This means if you have 5 parts from 5 different companies, they might not all jive together too well. Maybe you're simply asking the bike to do more than it is designed to do? It is possible to over-stress any metal, exhaust, etc...to a point of exhaustion. You blew another pipe as well.

Since you are on the track...I'm still curious what your 0-60 is now...how much have you dropped it from the stock 4.5?

I come from a history of racing mustangs and close friends racing sport bikes it is common place to upgrade your vehicle from the very begining to make it better and faster. I am quite sure you have made mods to your vehicles. They requested a pipe be made from hindle they have made bags and risers. They to see room for improvement. Thanks man hopefully NMN can help me out with what to do with this, I know they helped out someone else on here whose you blew up on them, if they can't well I will have to figure something else out.
Took the yosh off and put the welded TB single back on, which is the first one I had fix. The TB works but it is too loud and people are complaining around town. On the drive over to my buds to switch the pipes parts of the outside of the yosh were breaking off and I was being nice to it because of the noise. So it was changing color but I would think it would hold up better. Lamonster and I sure several others have over 10k on their yosh pipes so I would think that 5k I put on should not have it come appart, and like you said you have a ton of miles on your m109 so yeah I guess I have to get a TB double or a hindle. If I could get something done with this specific yosh that would be great.

I think we can both agree that if anything is pushed beyond its limits it is gonna break...

I enjoyed Seth's video and it's neat to read about his exploits...with that being said, sometimes things are pushed beyond their capacity, whether made for the track or not.

And I would think they would be designed to be abused a little...
