• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Warranty BS

The only one saying the warranty is not good is the dealer the OP took his bike to. All we're saying is he is a Canadian resident, he bought the Spyder in Canada, the dealer was authorized to sell it in Canada, so his warranty is valid when he travels in the US.

:agree:

I think when this all comes out in the wash the warranty will cover the repair. It's a shame that all of the BRP entities are not on the same page though.

for all those going to Canada this year for that big event ask the big shots up there at the factory why all this is happening and ask them to train there reps more thoroughly I mean this would be the right time to bring up all these mishaps that have been posted here on s/l..j,m.o. I'm sure we all would like to hear what they got to say about all these dumb answers they have given us to our replys when we cry out for help because the dealers are too dumb to call and talk to the right personnel.

It's fixed and he paid for repair himself in full. Also understandable he does not want to talk about it anymore for now. Just wants to enjoy the rest of his vacation.

The way I read that .....

This line
"the buyer must be a resident of the country where he is buying it and the dealer must be an authorized dealer in that country."
Sure sounds like you have to get it fixed in the country you bought it in....bummer if true.

the dealer must be an authorized dealer in that country."

I am reading this to mean that if the dealer is in the US then they must be an authorized dealer (vice versa) if the dealer is in Canada.

I may be wrong, but that sure doesn't make a lot of sense to have a clause that would restrict an owner to ride in their home country only!

He is in Surprise AZ. That's near Phoenix I think. The dealership is Ridenow Powersports. Multiple locations, don't know which one.

Aww, now this is adding up. RideNow Powersports, no wonder he is having problems. You see they are not getting paid as much from BRP if it is warranty work. If it is not they can charge their usual $120 per hour and usual markup (above MSRP). RideNow Powersports has over 40 BRP dealerships and equal amount of Harley dealerships. (I think they call it a monopoly) Very poor company in most peoples opinion.

Owned by Coulter Cadillac and the CEO is married to one of Coulters daughters-Bill Nash. They are the ugly Stepchild here in the Southwest and they own dealerships Nationwide.

My advice, if you can find one, try a non RideNow dealership.

Maybe Steve from BRP cares can answer this warranty issue. I will be going around lake superior this summer. Would like to know that my Spyder would be fixed if a warranty problem should arise.

  1. If a Canadian resident purchases their Spyder in Canada, and while riding in the US need warranty service, then yes, they will be covered.
  2. If an American resident purchases their Spyder in the U.S., and while riding in Canada need warranty service, then yes, they will be covered.

  1. If a Canadian resident purchases a unit in the U.S., they may be denied coverage.
  2. If an American resident purchases their Spyder in Canada, they may be denied coverage.

Then what happened!!!!!

My friend is a Canadian resident. Purchased his Spyder in Canada. While traveling in the US was denied warranty coverage by BRP, not the dealer. The reason was because the Spyder was purchased outside the country.

I guess my obvious question to the last two statements is-Why:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow: i don't get what the difference is.

Trying to protect the CDN dealers so residents of Canada can't come into the US to get a cheaper deal, some auto manufacturers do the same thing.

A few years back I was a snowbird and wintered in Florida. A friend of mine purchased a new Honda goldwing, he is a Canadian and purchased the goldwing in Canada, and came to visit us in Florida and trailered his goldwing down. The bike had less than 100 miles and quit running while on a ride with a Honda group from a Honda dealership. They hauled it back ,did the repairs but Honda would not cover the repairs for the same reason as the BRP claim. He did recoup the costs on returning home. We checked with a Kawasaki dealer and they said the same No US coverage on Canadian purchased bikes even if you are from Canada. This IS REDICULOUS.

R Fun, ya i think it's ridiculous too! You'd think coustomer relations would be more important to them. But on a brighter side, i really love your floorboards! Where did you get them?

Hi Jheck;
Yes, and on the other side, when I rode Harleys I had two warranty jobs done in the US and had no problems with claims being handled by the dealers. Harley says warranty is warranty no matter were in the world are or were your from, that is the way it should be.
The floor boards are the greatest farkle I installed. You can position your feet werever you wish. Very simple to install {I installed two sets]. Riding in the rain your feet and legs stay perfectly dry. It also directs the lower hot air opening under the boards. It is from Vertika Trikes Canada in Quebec.
E-Mail Vertikatrikescanada.com phone 819-427-9954. Need any other info let me know.

It sounds more like a Dealer problem: not a warranty problem...

If you have two different contacts at BRP providing two different answers, that is giving the dealer an "out", Bob. Surely a contact to BRP care should always be the first course of action in cases like these. They always respond promptly and provide the official "company" answer.
