• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking brake not disengaging 2011 RTS

I have a 2011 RTS ............ Over the last 6 months my bike has sat up. When I went to start it the battery was dead. I charged the battery and started the bike but when pressing the parking brake switch the parking brake would not disengage. (the pulley would not turn to release the park brake cable) I replaced the battery knowing it was time for a new one however with the new battery in, the bike will start but again the parking brake will not disengage. Ideas? Thanks ............ P

Check voltage at the parking brake actuator. If voltage is there when being commanded to release and the motor is not moving, you have a dead actuator. If no voltage or low voltage, you have a relay or wiring issue.

Had this same problem on my 2011 RTS..ended up being dirty connections at the dash toggle switch..cleaned them..worked ok;)

So that would point to either the switch, parking brake motor or bad connection in between. Look at the switch and it's connectors first.

..................... Vintage I haven't checked the toggle switch yet but plan on it ASAP. Can you tell me what I need to do in order to remove the switch to inspect it ...... THANKS ............. have not had luck finding that info.

I had a similar experience with my 2010 RT. Turned out the plastic sheath covering the cable was cracking and not allowing the cable to slide freely. Replaced the cable and no problems since. Might want to see if it's binding up, if you haven't already.
