• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No adult supervision

I have about 9000 miles on Stanley, my 2015 RTL so I bought all the stuff to do an oil change, My SpYder club guy who helps me with my maintenance (the adult supervision) and his wife are on a ride to Oregon, so I decided I would do it myself. I got my SpYder lift and got it blocked up and crawled under, finally found the plugs. I got the left side one opened up and draining and then moved to the right side. I put the tool in and gave it a nudge and it did not feel quite right. I got where I could watch and discovered the inside torx was stripped. :yikes: t's in one of those places where you can't get to without removing a bunch of Stanley's clothes. If he was a human it would have been like a proctologist exam. I had to get that plug out and could not find anything to work. I finally used an ease out and to my amazement it worked! Once upon a time ago I bought an extra magnetic plug thinking some day I might need it. Plan for the worst and hope for the best. Six hours later it's done, and I saved myself $300.00! I would show you a photo but can't figure out how to attach it here.

Glad that turned out well:yes:

As I was reading this I was expecting a different outcome. Since that plug was already stripped did you have the dealer do your first oil change? If so I am glad you are now doing your own now!

Dealer / What dealer?

The closest dealer for me is 120 miles away and we don't like them! Our Spyder Club guys are pretty handy with most things. So to answer your question.... This was a self induced problem. I can't blame anyone else. I fixed the issue by using a plug that has a bolt head instead of torx.

Congratulations. ...

Well done and with no fear....:2thumbs: now your a pro and that plug will never give you a problem again. Some have allens some have torx and some have both so it is easy to mess them up. Many just change them out. Never understood why they used those in the first place those are for engine types that have the possiblity of bottoming and scaping across (off road, street racers etc) and maybe tearing the plug out. Not much of a chance here....:dontknow:

That reminds me Mike, I need to get some gold plugs ordered so I have them on hand for my next oil change!!!

CONTRARY TO YOUR STATEMENT OF 'SELF INDUCED'.....
NOT TRUE... IT'S CALLED "CHEAP PARTS" AND BRP SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR INSTALLING THIS 'JUNK' ON A $25,000 VEHICLE... BRP ALSO USES 'JUNK' FRONT SPROCKETS AMONGST OTHER THINGS... I SWITCHED OUT MY PLUGS ON THE 1st OIL CHANGE WITH THE 'GOLD PLUGS'.... www.Goldplug.com ASK FOR 'TIM' IF YOU CALL, HE'S A SUPER GUY.... THESE HAVE THE HEX-HEAD AND ARE FAR BETTER THAN THE 'OEM' PLUGS & YOU CAN PICK UP A TRUCK WITH THOSE MAGNETS (toy truck that is)... AND TO BEAT ALL, 'GOLD PLUGS' ARE PRODUCED RIGHT HERE IN THE GOOD OLE U.S. of A.
