• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

removing sena sm 10 from the cradle

As part of a deal, I had the dealer install the sena SM10 dongle (BRP version) in my 2017 RT-S yesterday. Today, I paired it to my 20s (both mine and my wife's) but before I did that I wanted to bring it in the house and see if there was an upgrade on the firmware. I played around all over the place trying to get it out of the holder, but couldn't figure it out.
It was a dealer install, in the frunk, in a metal holder.

Thanks in advance :spyder:

Unplug the middle cable and look below it. If it is li9ke mine you will see a small rounded arm just slightly protruding. Push that arm down and slide the sm10 toward the bike(away for the frunk).

use a bigger hammer........

I found and tried that tab before I asked. So, upon reading I went out and tried again.... and again.... and again......until the tab finally broke off.
The dongle would still not move. But, not being the kind of guy to give up. i played around with it more.
In the end, the plastic clip that the tab is attached too also broke on one of the slides. Now the dongle is free.
I have no idea how you would get it out. The dongle is trapped between the plastic clip and the metal holder.

All that and it has the latest upgrade.....:banghead:

You release the tab and slide the locking plate out. Then the dongle just lifts out of the cradle.

Then maybe the installer used the wrong plate

This one, the dongle has to slide out, see the slider tabs on it, one side I broke off. But it couldn't slide to the back (toward the seat) as the metal holder is solid back there

I will go look to see what other parts are in the box. Hopefully something I can use to re-mount.

I just re-read your post, and now I understand, i should have removed the plastic part, then the dongle would pull out........... oppps my bad.

got it covered

I was just looking through the box, and I'm pretty sure the handle bar clip will fit to hold it in place. I'm charging the unit right now, so i will try in a bit.

After all of that, there have been no firmware updates in 2-3 years and I could never get mine to pair up with their software. Sena's answer was "no firmware up dates and sometimes they just won't pair up". Mine works most of the time, so I just live with it until they die and then I will go somewhere else.
