Ohio to Florida

Took off last Saturday from lancaster Ohio and headed for St Augustine. I took my time for the most part and I did the trip over 2 days! I pushed myself the second day and only got off the spyder 3 times about every 150 miles. I have put over 85000 miles on 3 spyder over 4 plus years but I learned something this trip. 1. You have to stop and eat. I did not until dinner and I was not feeling well because of it. 2. Drink lots of water once again I did not and I could not think by the time I made it to the condo! The f3 did good and it got good gas mileage until I pushed 80 mph. I head home Saturday and I hope to take what I learned to have a better trip home!20160811_084101_HDR.jpg20160811_084101_HDR.jpg

Awesome that you did that, but seriously, that is a long trip in 2 days on a byke.
Did you do it solo or have a 2-up with you?
That is why we take the journey so that the experience teaches us something, it sounds like you learned practical lessons, but need to enjoy the trip more.

I was one up chasing down the family who was in the mini van an hour ahead of me. It was a great trip and I hope the return trip is even better!

Long haul 101....

You need to stretch, hydrate and eat along the way....I tend to snack more than sit down and eat but works out great cause a good meal after a long ryde just tastes better.... Great trip, Loved St Augustine when we stopped by one summer...enjoy the trip back and practice what you learned....:lecturef_smilie:

I left Florida today and I stopped every 70 -95 miles and drank tons of water and Powerade. 477 miles in this southern heat was not as easy if I was in ohio but with more stops it made it easier. It has been a beautiful ride and I will finish it tomorrow!

Hey neighbor....hope you got home safe & sound.
We drove home (cage) from Ft. Lauderdale area last week...HOT! Your approach sounds solid...stops, hydrate, etc. I'll bet it was a fun ride!

We left Gulf Shores, AL Friday morning and had quite a bit of rain in the southern third of Alabama and got caught in a big downpour in southern Illinois yesterday morning. Sure would like to make that trip on our Spyder, just not on the interstates.

We had to wait for a little while in Tennessee for a motorcycle wreck on the trip down. When we got to it there was just a cop and a crotch rocket laying beside the highway. The bike didn't look to be hurt to badly, hope the rider wasn't either.

Got home yesterday around 4pm. It was a amazing trip with great roads little rain around Athens and lots of stops for Powerade and the secret weapon ice cream! Temps were cooler in Virginia West Virginia and Ohio which made the trip a lot easier! Poor spyder is not 2 months old yet and I've put over 6000 miles on it ... When these things run good they run great I hope this one stays that way. IMG_0255.jpg

It worked out great for me. The wife and 20 year old son drove the mini van and I was an hour behind enjoying my trip. I hope you get to take that trip one day this country is very beautiful and on a spyder it just seems to make the trips more amazing!!
