There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Broken Mirror Clip on 2010 RT

I took my mirror off yesterday to change oil, and went to put back on, and noticed that wire clip is broken. Does anyone know if this is replaceable, or do they make it where you have to buy whole mirror assembly?
This stinks, because within the process of learning to change oil on my newly aquired 2010 RT, I noticed that the dealer who changed oil the last time broke two clips off the panel where it screws to the rear luggage compartment,
and cracked the hole where the same panel fastens on top under the seat.

Not true... dealer doesn't know what he is talking about.

See my link above and you can order the clips.

Bob

Thanks Bob,
Just called dealer with that part number, and talked to someone else there, and he has two for 15.29 each. Picking up one, but maybe safe taking both.
Thanks for your quick feedback. Saved me some hair :)

:agree: Your dealer is either an idiot, or wants to make some money off of you. I they don't know that these parts are independently replaceable, I would wonder what else they don't know about Spyders.

THAT DEALER S*CKS

Just called dealer here in Dearborn Heights, Mi, and he told me that I have to buy the whole turn signal assembly. $199.
.If this is the same dealer where all the parts were broken ???... did you honestly expect them to tell the truth on this :lecturef_smilie: :gaah:............If it's another STEALER it just adds to my feelings that way to many dealers/techs are in-competent ......... You get far better info here most of the time ...... jmho...Mike

Mike,
No, it is not the same dealer. I bought this bike a month ago today from a private party south of Dallas and rode it back home. According to their maintenance records (which their dealer sent me copies at my request) it was last serviced at Cowtown Powersports in Ft.Worth.

Actually asked how much that panel would cost to replace, and was told $249. Haven't check yet, but does that site that Bob posted, sell those panels already painted?

DON'T BUY IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...................................................If you only need the part with the wire clips they sell that as a SEPARATE PART .........If you buy the entire mirror assembly I don't think those clips are included, you would actually have to buy them separately also.........Go to PROCALIBER.COM --- register for FREE -- and put that PART # ( above ) in ......I think it will be ....just the clip..........Mike ......OK, I just went to Procaliber the part you want is what "finless" posted # 219800156 ---- with discount it's $12.98 .........The entire mirror is only $179 or 188 depending on left or right............because of shipping costs , just take this number #219800156, to the dealer and buy one or two .................Mike

Mike,
Just got back from dealer. Bought both the ones he had. I just went there earlier this morning to buy rubber grommets, but didn't have any, and had to order those. Well, you and Bob have given me two more avenues
of buying parts wthout going through a dealer. I even had to pre pay for the grommets. You would think that dealers would have those in stock. Both dealers within 20 miles of me never have the grommets in stock.
Thanks for the feedback and info on the websites.

Glad I could help you thru the BS and get you to the PART you needed and NOTHING EXTRA :thumbup::thumbup:............Mike :bbq:

WELLLLLLLLLLL

Most dealers don't stock many parts:banghead::banghead::banghead:
This isn't ODD, try and get almost any part for anything automotive from any dealer anywhere and you will get the same thing............When the dealers were forced to pre-pay for their inventory on hand ....it just got too expensive ........It's just a fact of life..............jmho........Mike

If a part has a known history of failure the dealer is much more likely to stock it. The fact that most dealers stock very few parts is a testament to how much they are NOT needed. It's an inverse indicator of the Spyder's reliability. Limited failure, no sense in stocking a part just in case.

We stock mirror clips and grommets because we often find the clips broken and grommets missing. I'd hate to have to tell a customer that they have broken or missing parts and not be able to replace them. If any of you are at a rally and have missing grommets or broken mirror clips stop by to see us and we will get you squared away.

A little white lithium grease will help to prevent this in the future. Also a little 3M 303 Aerospace Protectant will keep the rubber grommets soft any pliable.

Not a good idea. You really don't want the grommets to easily come out. Instead try spraying Windex before you put the panel in. The Windex will make it easier to get the panel in and it will then dry and your grommet will do what it is supposed to do, hold the pin in place.
