cat bypass spring removal 2015 RT

So I have been trying to decide if it is worth spending the $$ on a cat delete pipe to go along with my tailgunner exhaust to get some more sound out of my 15
RT-S. I think I will gain the sound that I am looking for but it looks like removing the 3 springs on the converter might be a PITA. Any suggestions on the best/easiest way to do this ? and if it is "worth the hassle "

Easy

Get a helper. Get 8 feet of parachute cord. Loop cord around spring. Have helper pull from rear of bike. Extend spring, move, release. Do 3 times. Done!

Yes!

I start on the clamp that holds the muffler to the cat. Remove. Then, remove the bolt the muffler hangs from. Remove muffler. Clear shot at cat springs. There are 3 bolts that (10mm) hold the small bracket that has rubber mounting grommets, remove those bolts. There is a rubber donut on top of the cat on a hook. Remove rubber donut. Cat falls free. Harvest donut, hang from bike. Put bracket on bypass. Position bracket. Hang on donut. Now do springs. Re install small bracket 3 bolts. Hang muffler, leave bolt loose. Position muffler on bypass, install clamp. Tighten clamp. Now tighten muffler bolt. Done!

I suggest you get a spring puller something like the following: (if the image doesn't directly follow this text, it may show as an attachment.



I also had some heavy cord that I used to pull on the spring puller handle. I actually used my foot to pull because I could get more leverage with my foot/leg while laying on my side on the ground where I could see and get to the spring. This worked for me, and make sure and keep your fingers out of the way in case something slips.

Thank you ! Doesn't sound too awful bad of a job. Should I/ can I use a set of car ramps to get the front end up high enough to work on it ? Not much room underneath to work.

i used this method, but did not have a helper.
i put a loop in cord at about mid rear tire.
then used my foot to pull cord which pulled spring

backed the front wheels up on to car ramps

I just raise the rear wheel a bit to get to everything. Really, about 30 minutes tops. Joe
