Pirrelli P Zero ?

I know that a lot of riders go to auto tires for the increased tread life. All of what I've read has guys going to some inexpensive tires (Kuhmo, etc.) I know that on a car a high perf tire can totally change the vehicle dynamics for the better. I would think that the prospect of improving the F3s performance (and safety?) would prompt some to go with an ultra-perf tire such as the P Zero. Being a car tire, you'll still get the higher mileage you want. Has anyone here gone with the P Zero (exact size) or a Michelin PSS in a close size? I know that $300-400 is a lot more than $80, but I see that kind of money spent on other F3 mods.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - MAYBE

But I seriously doubt the performance will be 6 X's better than a General Altimax 215/60-15 ...... this is currently the best performing car tire that easily fits the Spyder - jmho.........Mike .............NOTE................I was just over to " TIRE RACK " ( GREAT INFO SOURCE ) and The tire you are talking about the P- Zero System ( the only model I found in our size ) actually has NOT great ...... wet or hydro-planning ....ratings, the Altimax is far better....This isn't my Opinion .....go check for yourself...............More expensive isn't always better :banghead: :lecturef_smilie:

I admit that I didn't look at TireRack's rating this time. For my cars I only worry about responsiveness and dry weather handling. We avoid wet weather as much as we can on the bikes, too, but your point is well-taken for the many who ride in all conditions. Dry weather braking is something else I put an emphasis on.

Thanks for following up with this .....some times the OP is never heard from again ......... I realize the TIRE RACK testing is done on CARS not Spyders ....however I feel it is still relevant because they are testing on the same type of vehicle ....ie not mixing cars ,trks, mtcs etc......The only other option is word of mouth .....Now that's great if the mouth you get it from is an EXPERT - HOT - Spyder rider, but not all folks here fit that category ..... .............I did find ONE MORE " P - ZERO " the Trofeo ....however it was a DOT legal track day tire with a UTOQ of .....20......Yes ...20............But I also doubt it would even stop you in wet conditions :banghead: .......Mike

Ultra High Performance Tire

Increased traction on wet and dry roads = increased safety.
I am presently running Yokohama S Drive, 205-55R-15 on the rear and 185-55R14 on the front of my '08 GS.
They handle great and I don't worry about tread life, when its gone it gets replaced.
Check them out.

Trofeo is the incredible tire on the Z28 Camaro that set track records around the country. Very sticky with a UTOQ of 20! I've actually had some tires with a rating of 0.

I am seriously considering a Toyo R888 on my F3 next. One of the limitations of the F3 is rear tire traction. The RT with its heavy rear end does not have the same problems. The Yoko S-Drive is a great choice that works well on the Spyder but have not tried one on an F3.

Toyo R888 - that's going to be a really interesting ride in the rain ....or even through a puddle !!!!.... Mike

Michelin Pilot SuperSports @ about $500 per tire are superb tires. Previous generations of Michelin's best tires used to last about 10K miles if you didn't do burnouts, but these new ones will go 15K now.

PILOT SS shouldn't cost $500 ea. even on 911 & ferrari, i think you might be overpaying

I do not ride in the driving rain. Puddles are no problem. The R888 has more tread and better wet road capabilities than my car tires. (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s). The Toyo would not be for everyone but it should give the F3 a good deal more grip for launch and dry road traction.

Besides, the Toyo R888 LOOKS COOL and will look great on the back of an F3 with its exposed tire.

I may yet decide not to got that route. If I don't, it will be the Yokohama S-Drive.

Agree, the Yoko is a great tire. I have used one and installed a number of them on customers bikes. They have all been very pleased with the tire. Most of them balance with 1/2 oz or less weight. Very well made tire.

Is it worth a comment that it seems pretty much regardless of what 'other' rear tire people put on, they are generally pleased enough with that move & feel that it handles & wears way better than the original Kenda?? Maybe not so much for the fronts, as there are some who get good mileage & feel the Kenda's manage OK up that end; but I haven't noticed too many who've tried an alternative brand tire on the rear who've got such poor performance/mileage that they couldn't wait to go back?!?

Just Sayin'! ;)

My stock size rear tire is 335 x 25 x 20. TireRack usually has pretty good prices and right now it is $511 per tire, plus shipping. I appreciate your concern that I am overpaying and would like to know where you can buy them for a lot less.
