There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. windshields

im assuming by stock wide you are just adding widthfor more air management?
does the vent really make a difference in riding pleasure? newbie ?
thanks--irv

F-4

I put an F-4 tall-wide with the vent on my RT-S about three months ago and I love It, I have always rode with my windshield all the way up, I look through mine, when I was riding Goldwings for 35+ years I always had bigger than stock windshields on all of them..

So what happens when you put the shield up higher?

To vent or not to Vent--------

Hi Irv,

Just my humble opnion here. A vented shield can fill the negative pressure created by a near vertical wind shield. I added a vent to the shield on my Valkyrie Tourer ---- made a world of difference. I also purchased a vented shield for my RT-S, again a huge difference. No buffeting for my passinger at any speed. Better control of rain "in the bubble of still air"
The turblence is above and behind you.

This dosent have to cost you an arm and a leg. A goldwing vent can be added to the stock shield ( what I did on the Valkyrie) for about $50 if your good with a jig saw.

Turbelence causes:

F-4 WINDSHIELD

What happens Is this, I get less wind turbulence and It protects much better In the rain, and as far as the F-4 goes, they are so optically clear It's like looking out of your front window. I had a friend many years ago riding with a shorty windshield and a robin flew Into his path and hit him In his glasses, knocking the lens out and Into his left eye causing him to loose his eye. I've had birds and all kind of debris hit my windshield over the years, that's why I look through mine..

Thank you that makes sense, I'm coming from the Tulsa tall on a gl1800 for many years, kinda liked the up and down feature on the RTS my RT came the shorty and it's just not enough for me. I was considering the stock w/tint but now am looking at the tall. Maybe I'll just have to ride up to Americade and try one out at f4

Just ordered my F4 Customs, wide, tall, clear, with vent.....have always had barn doors on my bikes and trikes, like the quiet and wind protection and also makes the wife happy as she sits high in the saddle so she can see over me....hates to lean around me to see things. Rain usually isn't a concern or issue....I park it asap if it starts raining.......I worked outside most of my working career because i had to but now I don't play outside in the bad weather!:ohyea:

Love my F4 Tall, Wide Vented!

I had one on my Valkyrie interstate trike, loved it. Got one on my 2014 RTL and made a world of difference in wind and wet.

The F4 Looks Great

The shield really looks great. Can you send me the photos is a separate attachment to my e mail at [email protected] if you don't mind. I would love to put them up on our site and facebook. Love the picture of the one with your dog also. Kim and I love animals and that one put a smile on our face for sure.
Don
Installed the F4 Stock Wide with Vent yesterday. I really, really like this shield. Blocks the wind off of my elbows and shoulders.

Just got my F4 Customs, tall, wide, clear, with vent and tried it out on a 125 mile test drive. Awesome difference and the wife will love it. I had a friend drive me around while I sat in the "bitch" seat....
Great

Wrong shield sent by F4

I just purchased the sport, stock width, vented and tinted for my RTS from F4! They sent the wrong shield and customer service seems to be good, so far. I will see if they send the right one this time. I also noticed on the bottom of the shield , that it was not smoothed out and finished on the edges. So, I am not completely impressed with F4 yet. I am 5' 9" and with the stock shield all the way down the top of the shield is right in my line of sight. I just can't deal with that. So that is why I am going with the shorter one. I wish F4 had an option for just 2" shorter instead only 3". Just another guy with an opinion, but I just can't have a big windshield. I have always had windshields on my bikes, but the RT creates so much heat and the wind protection is awesome to begin with. So I personally just need more air flow on my bikes. I had a BMW RT and the wind protection was almost too good. Then I bought a Vstrom and I was relieved with more air flow. Now that I have a Spyder, I will probably always have one.

Drank the cool-aid

Hi Don, Read all the reviews and watched your video and was sold. Just ordered the F4-SRT-W-T-V. The stock one works great other the the wind goes right to the back of my neck. I'm hoping being wider might help with that. I'm 5'6" and the tall one I'm sure would cause me to look through the shield all the time. Stock gives me about 60% over the top view when down. And up, 100% through the glass. I got the tinted one thinking that during the day it would cut the sun down on the dash and GPS screen and at night it might help with on coming headlights. Besides, I think it looks cool. Thanks for a great product and Ryde Safe.:2excited:

F4 windshields vs regular polycarbonate

All OEM windshields are made from polycarbonate. However F4 Customs uses High Optics Polycarbonate then bakes in a proprietary coating and with their process for making the windshields this makes them much more scratch resistant and allows them to shed rain.

Just watched a video on youtube by national cycle. Polycarbonate vs acrylic windshields. Very impressive! Does anyone know what the can am factory windshields are made of? Might even be stamped in the plastic. Thanks.

Thanks for your purchase

Thanks for the purchase and let us know how you like it.
