• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am extremely pleased that ... the guy or gal who was
responsible for obfuscating and complicating panel removal on the RT apparently still has
a flourishing career at BRP.

For the purposes of this little essay I'[m going to call him Jean Luc because I can't
think of another French Canadian name.

I really like the look of simplicity and open feeling of my F3.
Everything looked easy and uncomplicated.

Until this morning I thought that the highest expression of Jean-Luc's art was manifest in
the design of the RT mirror system.

Jean Luc's obvious talent for packaging, complicating and obfuscating is evident
in the mirror system .... he probably had a hand in the turn signal switch too
come to think about it.

I've just spent the morning in a vain attempt to get my F3, with windshield, ready to install a set
of LED headlights that the UPS guy is supposed to have on his truck today.

This means exposing the top level of tupperware.
Before anyone chimes in to tell me how easy it is, let me say this.
This is the first time I have tried it.
I'm certain, like the beloved RT mirrors, I will eventually learn how it is done.
But for a first timer armed with an owner's manual and torx set I am in awe of Jean Luc's talent.

Jean Luc, I salute you.

The process...

like the designer..engineer..cost manager..:hun: they design a beautiful thing and turn it over to the guys who are supposed to build it and let them figure it out. They do and extremely well but enter the cost manager who says...it's to expensive that way back to the builders untill you get the cheapest solution. Designer and manufacturer take the glory and you get to deal with it....:banghead: now it is up to Joe Public and the DIY'ers to come to the rescue....what will you find for us...??

Takes me back to my working days, trying to explain reality to people who designed/laid out machinery who KNEW they would never have to work on it!

I am extremely pleased that the first time I checked the oil on our 2013 Rt was an adventure and scary. The seat change over was alittle better because I had found this site. The DIY gas door was also easier thanks to this site. But I don't think I will attempt to much Tupperware removal due to my hands and shoulders.
 
I especially like the fact that Jean Luc designed the RT in such a way that you have to disassemble the front end of the bike to change a headlight bulb. Not once but twice!

According to BlueKnight911, that also works when you get the infamous DESS error, but only if you hold the key above your head with your right hand while doing it. :thumbup: I hear he used it at Spyderfest. I would have LOVED to have witnessed the event first hand. :shocked:

Jean Luc et al is probably more than one person by now.

After the RT mirror system his/her star shown bright at BRP.
They probably have a Jean Luc Appreciation Day,

He/she probably heads a large committee and uses his/her vision to implement the various fastener, connector and and panel schemes that ensure no rational human can figure them out.

I finally did get to my headlight bulbs, but alas the UPS guy delivered bulbs meant for an RT not an F3.
Tomorrow is another day.

I will install them after they arrive tomorrow.
I am awaiting my $4.55 heated hand grips.
They'll be great, for sure.
 
F3 LED HEADLIGHTS

Roger I will be tearing into my F3 this weekend, as my LED headlights are due to arrive on Monday. I'm not looking forward to it either. But the good thing is these lights are supposed to last tens of thousands of hours, so we will never have to do this again! Plus I will find out more about my Spyder and enjoy working in my garage with some tunes on the radio and a cold drink. (Non alcoholic or I might be removing the wrong parts)!😂😂
 
Once you realize that the reason the black plastic grill won't come up because it is held down by wiring clipped on to it it isn't really too bad.
The pointy plastic thing between the lights is on a pivot.
There are almost as many screws holding down the windshield rail as hold all the tupperware on the RT.
