• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I understand one can upshift without pulling in the clutch lever. Does it also include first gear, or only two through five?

You do have to pull on the clutch lever to engage 1st. or reverse gears. With a little practice, you will be able to go to other gears without the use of the clutch.

No difference downshifting to first from second than any other gear downshift or upshift. Obviously, not doing it at a stop. Match your road speed with the gear and your fine up or down.

If not done correctly, one may break a gear tooth. This will happen if the gears are not fully meshed. Roll the dice.

Your not breaking a tooth unless your revving it up and forcing a shift. They are wide straight cut gears, and due to the design, they either mesh or they don't. The SE bikes actually shift this way by design. Pretty much impossible to mess it up.
The only thing you could damage is the shift forks if you stand on the shifter or excessive wear if you ride with constant pressure on the lever.
It actually shifts very nice without the clutch.

-as your accelerating and nearing a shift put pressure with the top of your foot pulling up on the shifter.
-let off the throttle almost completely and get back on it. Do this on-off-on pretty quickly (blip it).
-in the quick time you go off the throttle you'll feel your foot pull to the next gear.
-back on the throttle and go.

It will shift quicker than you can get back on the throttle. Also, you'll NEVER miss a hard 1-2 shift and end up in neutral. [emoji106] [emoji85] [emoji38]
