• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

words today ...................... what do they mean?

Well, I discovered this morning that I have a new pet peeve, and never thought about it until I read the paper. There was a 2 page spread, and all they could talk about was the new 3 wheeled motorcycle called the "Slingshot", raved about the steering wheel and side by side seating. Is my peeve about the Slingshot? Surprisingly no, but more about how the news media is changing the definition of words in the English language. Our whole society is changing because we don't know what we are talking about anymore. I could go on all day about this, but won't, I'm going riding.

Do you mean because they called the Slingshot a motorcycle? I tend to agree. It looks fun to ride, but...

It doesn't matter what it is called; it only matters that it's FUN!
I've taken to calling them "convertibles", but that's just me! :D

I'm with Bob

Although I would never buy one as it seems impractical for my use. I still keep prying the dealer to let me take one out every time I go in.

I think one spin would fill the need for me, just to say I'd ridden one and see what it was like first hand.

I think they are interesting. Way to close to the ground for me, I could probably get in the thing, but I am not sure I could get out by myself. 2 artificial hips and 2 really bad knees
added to my "Growing Old Gracefully" make it difficult to enter and exit low slung vehicles!!!:banghead: Riding my Spyder, no problem, I love it!!!!

Actually; they're not that bad! :D

The trick to them: figuring out how to get in and out...
It's sort of easy... once you find it!
Step in, and then bring the other foot in also
(You're standing in it...)
Grab the wheel, and slide yourself down into the seat.
Getting out is just the reverse of this process! :D
The trouble starts when you climb in, and sit down, leaving one leg dangling out over the side...
NOBODY is flexible enough to make that work consistently... nojoke

It's a very expensive, three wheeled go-cart for grown ups. It's fun to drive, but very impractical IMO. Even if I won the Powerball I would never buy one.

no way Jose

ive test drivin a Slingshot and yes it was fun and exciting, but not a motorcycle.. Convertable car YES.. Asked if i wanted to purchase one by salesman? NOPE just wanted to try it out..

DON'T BE MAD ....THEY ARE CORRECT

:chat:.... The Paper would be wrong to call it anything else.......Any vehicle in the U.S. by Fed D.O.T. regs that has less than 4 wheels is a MOTORCYCLE ....it's that simple.................In England they make the Morgan " CAR " it has three wheels, when it gets to the U.S. It becomes a motorcycle ( for registration purposes ).....Mike

Expensive??? It's a lot cheaper than the RT's I'm lusting over---BUUUUUT---I still think it's an unsafe death trap. You can jump off of a Spyder, scooter or a motorcycle in an emergency but that would be very difficult on the Slingshot. Cage drivers can barely see us, imagine them seeing something slightly larger that a fat and wide go-cart!

I think it will be a lot more reliable than the Spyder and be easier maintenance wise but it scares me because it's so close to the ground. I'm in the country and I bet one of our dead Missouri tree squirrels would cause one of these things to flip over!

Sam:yes:

Actually, more states are adopting a 3 wheel "trike" designation and licensing accordingly. Similar to class A and B CDL's

I think the gist of the topic is that words have a precise meaning. Start using them correctly. If I'm wrong on this observation, I stand corrected.

You have described getting into the Slingshot, like how I used to get in and out of Lotus Elise when I owned one.

What chu-call-it

It really does not matter wat-chu-call-it. It's kind of like calling a dog without legs, he's not coming anyway.:gaah: Just ride and have fun.

...But, if you want to be upset over the article that you posted, by all means, go ahead. We all have little things that bother us, that to others seem ridiculous.
l don't know about the OP, but I have LOTS of those little things. :opps:

I don't sweat the small stuff... :D
Call it a trombone, if that makes you happy! :2thumbs:
I've got more important things to lose sleep over...

 Did we run out of bacon, and is my Hot Sauce supply getting low? :yikes:
