• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Do I have a touchy turn signal switch or am I just a bit clumsy?

I have a pet peeve about vehicles going down the road with turn signals blinking away for miles and miles. I am wondering if I am starting to cause drivers behind me to think I am an idiot for not turning off my turn signal. Yes, I know that a turn signal will get turn off after 30 seconds by the nanny but if I am going down the road at 60 miles per hour that means the turn signals will be on for 1/2 mile. That is a long ways for some folks. I have tried to cancel the turn signal by pressing the turn signal switch straight in but sometimes it will switch the turn signal to the opposite direction or just continue as it was. Do other folks have similar problems with the turn signal switch on the RT-S SE6? :banghead:

Mine is touchy too
in the beginning I did the same thing
but now I got use to it and can cancel it fine

It just takes getting used to. I've gotten into the habit of ocassionally depressing the turn signal switch with my thumb just to make sure. Sometimes I accidently hit the horn button though, and that Stebel air horn gives me a jolt! :yikes:

When I ride in heavy traffic I will cover the horn button with my thumb and, like you, I have scared the crap out of myself by hitting the horn when I meant to hit the turn signal. :yikes:

The button can be a pain and the lights on the dash are pretty lame. Since I have installed the Tric-LED mirror turn signal indicators I don't find myself leaving the turns on by mistake anymore.

My 2010 RT auto-cancels...did something change? I added signals in the mirrors as reminders, and a little extra visual aid for the dingalings around me.

Pic plz looking to do same on my ST not happy with bigger blind spot:mad:.
also mine is only picky on left turns it seems. Know it should use a cleaning. :p

Nice to know

I am not the only one with these problems. When I first got my :spyder2: I was constantly hitting the horn button instead of the turn signal. I am sure I looked like a jerk honking my horn at those odd times. 4000 miles later I rarely hit the horn by mistake. The turn signal button is very sensitive. I have found that a very light tap on the button works best. Both of these issues get better with experience.

That is why I made my own led turn signal indicators and put them on the mirrors. The ones on the instrument cluster are extremely difficult to see in the daylight.

Happens to me with gloves

I only seem to have the issue when I have my thicker gloves on. When I have my summer mesh gives, it seems to be as designed. :D

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:NICE
but if you don't see the lights that noise will get your attention

It's a case of getting yourself more familiar with the bike...
When cancelling a signal; you need to push the switch STRAIGHT in. nojoke
If there's any lateral movement; you're signally a turn in some other direction.
The newer switches seems little bit "fussier", but it just takes some time... :D

My "15 RT requires a very light straight push in, if I push too hard like trying to bottom it out it will usually switch direction of signal.

The best mirror...for those blind spots

I added the TricLED mirror signal lights and no longer have the issue with not knowing when directional signal has not cancelled. BUT the latest I have purchased from TricLED (Reggy and Cindy) is their 180 degree dash mirror. Eliminates that dreaded blind spot. And I agree with Ann Meyer, as I tend to ryde with my finger on or near the horn switch plus I "upgraded" my horn (ain't a whimpy squeaker anymore)...when I hit in error scares the crap out of me and anyone around me!!:roflblack::yes:

Ditto on all the above, some constant behaviors, some erratic, all a PITA. One observation that I have not conclusively verified: when you are approaching a turn, activating the signal as early as feasible (but not so early as to make the traffic around you wondering WTH you're actually planning to turn.... time/distance?) and/or making a sharp turn seems to improve self-cancellation. Self cancellation can be a real PITA, heavy gloves make it a bigger PITA.
