• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Last week I rode my F3's to the Veteran's Admin Facility in Columbus. The have a marked off area for motorcycle parking & the lot was fairly full. Some jerk rides up on his Harley & starts shouting "that's not a motorcycle" & parks his harley sideways blocking the remaining open slot. Coincdently the VA Police was walking near & I motioned him over--the cop agreed the F3 was a motorcycle & he went inside to find the harley guy. I parked along side the curb---when I return the harley guy & bike were gone.
How stupid for the harley guy to try to enforce his version of a motorcycle when a motorcycle licence is required to ride a Spyder in Ohio--especially at the VA with fellow veterans. Maybe the harley guy had a "mental health" appointmentnojoke:spyder2:.

Stupid

I'm glad you took a stand. I think the Harley Rider just wanted to take your parking spot.

Some people just don't like things that are different. I don't call my Spyder a motorcycle, but that is me. I've been riding motocycles for a long time, and I guess I am old school. A motorcycle has two wheels, fore and aft, a seat that you sit on and straddles the vehicle, and is steered by handle bars, so, two our of three ain't bad. But I ride a motorized tricycle that the State classifies as a motorcycle and since they make the rules, it is what it is. The line is becoming less distinct, now that other three wheel vehicles are called motorcycles even though they have side by side seats and a steering wheel. Would the Harley rider had denied a three wheeled Harley from parking there, I doubt it. I think he was just being a jerk.

Agree with that.

no where in the word Motorcycle is a two wheel designation like "bi" there is a "tri in tricycle so you can call it a Tricycle or a Motorcycle but not a Bicycle. JMO

Don't blame the Harley, it was the rider that was a jerk. Putting people down for what they ride IMO is wrong. Would this have had the same affect if he was riding a "Vespa"? You are not only putting down the guy (rightfully so) you are adding the Harley to flame the fire.

Hard to understand why so many here have a hatred for Harley riders. Maybe it's because there are more Harley's in the world than all other motorcycles combined. There are a few bad apples in every group including this one but it has nothing to do with what he rides.

I have yet to understand why this group has such a H--d On for Harley riders. A lot of folks on this forum rode and are still riding Harley's so why put them (us) down.

Alright I'll stop, Jack

The saddest part of your story , for me anyway, is the Vet On Vet hostility.
I don't care if you're both riding skateboards. We expect "the community" to
stand behind and honor our veterans. But don't have enough respect and decency
to treat everyone fairly? Sad business indeed, and an honest slice of our society.

Former Harley Rider

I just recently traded my Harley for a Spyder. I have former riding friends that wont ride with me anymore. I say, well I can't say that here. Bottom line, good standing up for the 3-wheel community. I park mine in the motorcycle spot on the base I work at in Virginia. No one has ever said anything to me, but they probably wouldn't since I out-rank most of them ;)

I hope you aren't talking to me, I've been riding Harleys since 1976, and think they are great motorcycles. I traded my Ultra Classic in on my Spyder, because I no longer felt that I had the slow speed control I should have, all due to the weight. I mean, it only weighed 850 pounds, and my wife didn't fell comfortable any longer. So now, I don't have to worry about holding it up at stop lights, or backing out of parking spaces. As much as I liked my Harleys, I like the Spyder better, but then, it is a different machine.

Along those lines, even though I have a lot of Harley cloths to get rid of, I never really bought into the lifestyle, and think they just priced themselves out of my budget. I try to take things as I see them, and do my best to no become prejudiced in what I do. If I don't like something (someone) I do my best to base my like and/or dislike on personal experience, not what some one else says.

Damn, where did I find this soap box I seem to be standing on this morning. Think I will go take a ride, I'd like to have another 400 miles before I take it in for service next Tuesday.

PARKING ISSUE

:lecturef_smilie: The person riding the H.D. was lucky I wasn't the officer who dealt with this , because I would just have written a ticket for " IMPROPER PARKING " ie. using more than one space un-necessarily .......:roflblack:..........Mike

When I read this I see that it talks about the RIDER being a jerk who just happened to be on a Harley. It says"A jerk on a Harley".:banghead:

Why are all of these Harley riders, or ex Harley riders so touchy and quick to jump on the soap that any comment about a Harley rider is bad mouthing the Harley?
I have met GREAT people and JERKS on every kind of cycle, car, truck, and even walking. When I say a jerk in a chevy truck tried to run me off of the road, I am not bad mouthing the chevy truck!!!! It is the JERK behind the wheel that i am bad mouthing.

I read nothing in his comments that bad mouthed the bike.:banghead::banghead:

touchy, touchy people. :sour:

You are exactly correct. He just mentioned the type of motorcycle that the a-hole was on. So all you current and former Harley riders relax and have some more coffee.

For the record

I have owned 2 Harley's. a 2003 Harley Deuce & a 2014 Street Glide Special. I bought the 2003 Deuce Screaming Eagle in 2005. I was the 3rd owner & the bike had 1750 miles on it. Yes i was talking about the jerk--not the Harley, although if I had to pick bias toward any r mnfg--Harley owners would be in 1st place--not only bad mouthing trikes--but other mnfg as well. A decade ago-harley riders in a group would not allow other 2 wheel mfg bikes to ride with them--that has subsided. To me--the worst part was the ncident occured in a Vererans only parking location. But I thank everyone for their comments. The jerks are out there--always have been--always will be :-(
Possibly I have occassionally been a jerk as well, I've owned 3 Hayabusa's, and have enjoyed screaming past a few road hogs when I felt the need. The turbo hayabsa looks like a missle being fired off a war ship :-)

 Thankfully; it never reached it's final target...
