• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tall rider needs HELP...

Questions

New member
New to this site, been riding since the early 70's, have had many bikes and still have most of them.. latest a 98 Valk (with King BigBoy seat).. I'm going to take a test ride on Sat. afternoon at a dealer in York, PA on a F3 S.... there going to move the pegs all the way forward for the test ride.. I'm really looking forward to this, but, I think with my "new" knees that I'm going to need a 'taller' driver seat... At 6'-6" and 330lbs., it looks like it might be a tight fit for me... So... does anyone here now use a taller seat.... ??? Or, know who can make one up for me... (DayLong....) Thanks... Ray

I am 6'1" and 265lbs.

Don't know about height, but the Corbin seat is 17" wide. At least by my measurement the stock is 15.5" wide. I can use the extra 1.5". http://corbin.com/can-am/caf3dte.shtml

But the seat width is not bothering me as much as the suspension. The stock is just not cuttin' it for me. I am getting ready to install Elka Stage 2. Then will start looking at the Corbin seat.

You might want to contact Elka sales to see what they recommend for you and you'll have the those numbers to consider before purchasing the F3. http://www.elkasuspension.com/

Love my F3. Just going to take some mods before I am passionately in love with her. ;)

There are shock upgrades on the Can-Am site. Replacing front and rear would be about $1k more than the Elka's that I am going to install. I have not read a post on this site about shock replacement that it wasn't Elka being used.

Russell Day Long offers a option for rider's over 250 which I fall into.
Trying to get up to Shasta for a fitting for me and my wife.

IMHO Russell makes the best seats period! As for the shocks, the stock rear is junk. Now that you have expressed your weight so do not be surprised if you are maligned by certain members of the board.

Ignore the closed minded opinions of others and buy a Elka Stage 2. They will build it for your weight and riding style....

I got a Corbin seat this spring for my F3-S. I was quite surprised when I found out that it moved the seating position back somewhere between 2" and 2 1/2" inches. I'm 6' even and have the pegs in the forward-most position. With the Corbin seat, I probably could move them back one and be very comfortable.

Did not know hat the seat moved you back. That is the key for taller riders.

I didn't know it either, until I installed the new seat and noticed that I had a longer reach to the brake pedal. I don't know if that is standard for the Corbin seats or not, but I'm sure it's something you could request. On the flip side, it took the same amount of space away from the pillion.
