New Airflow panels for 2013 ST-S

Got my new airflow panels installed yesterday. They seem to help quite a bit and I think the bike looks even better. I opted to leave the Can Am sticker off. I like the clean look. May do some pinstriping eventually. We will see.

For the RS you can buy the RS 2014 or 2015 panels. They changed the panels for the RS as well for these years to help airflow. There are a total of 4 panels to replace the 2, the colors are limited and will cost you around 400.00

13 STL Panel Replacement

I was to have my panels replaced today, however the dealership is unfamiliar with what is to be done. They think the fan outlet compartment is to be rerouted somehow. From the pics the compartment looks the same but the side panels are what is to be replaced. Need help please!

Got my 2014 panels for free as well, BRP Care didn't put up much of a fight, took 2-1/2 weeks from start to end and the dealership is installing them this Thursday

13 STL Black Currannt/ Side Panels

Purchased my STL last year...heat was not much of a problem for fall and winter. No that Spring and Summer is coming...I have an issue! My local dealership in wwhich I purchased my bike does not seem to believe all the parts were received. They are thinking the fan compartment has to be changed in order to reroute the heat. BRP sent side panels per the dealership request for the issue I'm having. It is an Good Will issue per customer. Please advise.

For the St it is just the panels. No change to anything underneath.
husband and I changed mine in less than an hour, and we took our time.

STFavor1, you are correct, side panels are the only thing to be replaced. It is a Goodwill item from BRP and they allow the dealer 45 minutes labor to remove the original 2013 panels, and replace them with the new vented panels. I know, that is what was done by my dealer to my 2013 ST-S, and that is how it was explained to me by BRP and the dealer.
Good luck!!!!

Sure you trust that dealer??

Nothing has to be changed other than the two panels per side. I did mine myself in about an hours time. I would be a bit worried if the dealer doesn't know what they are supposed to do in regards to those new panels. If they have the kits in stock go get the panels and do it yourself.

Eeeek, what have we h

Well, I'm a latecomer to the party. Bought my 2013 ST-S used (from the same dealership that sold it to the original owner) in November, so no warranty. After my first ride in >60 degree weather, I noticed this odd place on the left where it looked like something had spilled. Further investigation revealed that it was NOT a spill but a meltdown caused by an exhaust header...:yikes:

I called the dealer and will be taking the bike to them next week so they can file a report. Do I have any chance what with it being used and out of warranty, do you think?

IMO I am pretty sure you will still be able to get the airflow panels. Go in with a positive attitude and the dealer should see you right. If not, post again and I'm sure you'll get heaps of help. Thanks for the pics, very disappointing for you but, once fixed, you'll enjoy your new bike I'm sure. PS ask them for another bit of foil, too.

instead of filing a report, why not ask the dealer to just get the panels? I believe brp stopped asking for reports on this issue some time ago. Don't forget to tell the dealer the part number for the kit!!

Thanks for the advice! I have a good relationship with the dealership and I'm sure they'll do their best. Very nice folks. It'll be nice if a report isn't required, I guess they could call BRP and check. Would the kit part # be in this thread? Haven't seen it, but I'm less than half way through. :opps:

I bought some insulation to clamp around the header for the time being. Must have been rather close to smoke and flames before!:yikes:

Oh, one more question...does the kit replace the panel that got melted, or does that need to be ordered too?

Edited to add: no it doesn't, but when I went to the shop yesterday they put in a claim for a new one, along with the upgraded panel kit. They took their own pictures and documented things thoroughly. Turns out the previous owner DID buy the extended warranty and there's still a bit of time left, so I'm optimistic.

The dealership (Honda of Riverhead on Long Island) even gave me a gremlin bell while I was there. Nice folks and a great shop.

Well, that was interesting. The shop installed the new panels and the replacement for my melted heat deflector and took it for a test ride. I went out to look it over and found a nice melted spot in the NEW heat deflector. :dontknow:

If it was me, I would ask to see the old melted one they took off ... Bet they can't find it... Hope by now it's all better.

actually, that was my first thought - that they forgot to change that panel. But no, they had the old one right there. And the melted spot on the new one is smaller...so far!

What puzzles me is how can a new panel have a melted spot??

if it was perfect when they put it on, and is now melted - very quickly - then there is something else going on...

Yup, I'm going to take it back next week so they can remove the panels again and see what's going on. Looks to me like things are a bit misaligned in that area - the new heat deflector dips inward right over the exhaust header.
