Dash mounted iPhone

Because the ST doesn't have the bracket capabilities that the RT does, I still wanted a dash mounted phone so I put together RAM units to make my own.

I used a RAM suction cup along with a short arm clamp and X-grip. I used furniture padding on the dash so the RAM assembly can rest on it. If you mount to just the windshield, the weight of the phone/GPS will wobble. I also used some leather lace to make 2 safety straps from windshield to X-grip for extra protection. (Just in case). Worked great.

I thought about the suction cup also. I did not trust it. My GPS has fallen off the winshield of my truck a couple of times with the suction cup. I hope it works and you have no issues. RAM makes a handlebar mount that fits the Spyders I went with that and I also used the Xgrip. I like this set up so far. I have rode several hundred miles with it and have had no issues.

I had my phone on the handlebars but I like to be able to keep my eyes on the road and glance down not have to look down. It's safer for me to just glance at my phone which is still my field of vision. I see a lot of suction cup mounts for cameras and that they stay stuck. The RAM suction mount is much more powerful than most other mounts I've seen.

Good vid but WOW cluttered sorry i like to unplug & enjoy everything else radio is nice in the voids good fo weather & traffic the rest goes in frunk till im @ location.

I live the the SF Bay Area and if you want to get around safely, avoiding traffic and not get copped, you'll find an App called WAZE is very helpful. Also, if my Mom calls I want to be able to answer if only to let her know I'm fine. I don't make calls not have long conversations. The bike came with the Garmin otherwise I wouldn't have it. Can't go anywhere without Satellite radio. Surprisingly enough, it's not as cluttered as it could be.

Oh it's cluttered..:roflblack::roflblack: if you didn't need it all you wouldn't have it. My scala G9 handles most of the stuff like phone, radio, mp3, intercom and gps. I find the little screens hard to deal with so voice is all I need and for that I can have the gps in the frunk...but when I do use it it is all I have to distract Me...

but your set up looks like the best for you...love waze hope now that they were bought out they will maintain it as well as the Isralies did...congrats on your mounting...:2thumbs:

Whatever works. Not sure about the Isralies but Waze was created in California. Part of Google nowadays.

No. I didn't have quite that many gadgets. Basically I had the same as what I have on the Spyder.

I had more lights than gadgets.
