Hello,
I see with different models you can buy vented windshields. What is the advantage?
Thanks!
In 2014 on the RT cutouts were added to the stock windshield that, in my opinion, make buying a vented windshield unnecessary. On my 2013 I had the BRP vented shield and I felt that it was not worth the price. You can not direct the air flow with the BRP vented but can only open or close the vent. If you were going to purchase one I would look for the Goldwing vent as you can direct the air flow.
I like the adjustable side vents and Baker Built Air Wings for directing air on me in the heat and blocking it in cold.

Hi Pam,
Those cut-outs are placed so as to be right over top of the corresponding holes in the lower corners of the bracket that the windshield is bolted to.

Anne, can you elaborate on these "cutouts" on the stock windshield? I have a Special Series that came with the short windshield, and am going to be replacing it with a taller one. Where are the cutouts on the stock windshield?
Thanks,
Pam
Pam, I was really surprised that the shorty on the SS doesn't have the cutouts. I got a shorty from a guy who was replacing his with an F4 windshield. I thought I might put the shorty on when I'm home riding in the Las Vegas heat but when I realized that it didn't have the cutouts I'm not sure that I will use it.
Like Bob said there are the two big brackets and at the bottom of them there is a oval hole, on the 14 and newer RT (except the SS) the shield is cutout to match the bracket. It was not cutout on older models.
