• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Please throw an :agree: on the pile from me!:2thumbs:
I've always been fascinated with that "corner f the world". It seems to be such a harsh environment; yet people thrive!

Me, too. It's not someplace to go for the beautiful scenery, but it's fascinating to me.

Thanks for posting the pictures Patti. Please keep them coming as your adventure progresses.

Stark & hard scrabble living for sure.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, summer near the top of the world.:yes:

No sun there from Oct - February approx.

Dwayne,
The Animal Planet Channel recently had a series called, "The Last Alaskans". It was the story of several folks who lived up above the Arctic Circle in an extremely remote location...
Did you see any of it? I wondered if this was another Reality Show that just lacked...reality!

I did not see the show referred to above. Unfortunately, the pattern seems to "spiff" up the action to create situations of problems, peril, etc. for the TV effect. If I was a betting person, I would say not 100% reality.

Beautiful Pictures

Thanks so much for the Pictures. That is a trip I planned for years in my two wheel riding days, but now it seems out of reach. Continue to enjoy and Ride SAFE.

I always wanted to point the nose of the GoldWing "seriously North".

Maybe we should do a "Better Late, Than Never" tour! :2thumbs:

Patti, I believe that they frequently regrade the road and we just have hit it going south right after it was done. The last 10 km were the worst.

Another showery day. Rain then sunshine then more rain. We are doing our best to put out the BC fires. We've still got 299 miles to go today but we are close to good roads.

Nike, baby!

Just do it! Spyders are perfect to go to Alaska on! 7 men, 8 women, then Fred's wife Cathy flew in. 9 women! Average age 65!
Start planning now! Saw momma bear and 2 Cubs today on 37! She looked at us as if to say"don't slow down!!!" Awesome!

Hello all you NTA travelers. I rode the Knik River Road today for the first time since our group ride last week.

What did I see? .................................a Moose of course. No camera with me today though. :dontknow:

There's a little town north of Coldfoot (can't remember the name) where they film "Life Below Zero." Out pilot said it's mostly hippie types who live there. Considering, as Dwayne says, that the drama is overplayed, I began to wonder if "hippie drama" is an oxymoron.

I'm in Whitehorse now. I also think the road was better coming back. They were actually working on a long stretch today.

Remember some of us noted that we expected more traffic on the Alaska Hwy? I think it all showed up at once - certainly more today than when we traveled that stretch a week ago.
