    Default Fox podium shocks adjustment

Any thoughts on how to adjust preload on a '15 ST-LTD, tools required etc.? Manual says, see your dealer (no help)

    Thanks

    Default Fox podium shocks adjustment

Not sure if the '15 comes with Fox shocks as standard, but the OEM shocks on my '13 came with are not adjustable. The Fox shocks are as well as the Elka shocks. The only way to improve the non adjusting front suspension is to get pre load spacers.

I just used a spanner wrench I had in the garage and measured them with a micrometer to make sure they were even.

I asked my dealer about that and they sold me a pre-load spanner wrench SW-783.
Make a mark with a sharpee or something so you can count how many turns you make to do both sides the same turns.

I just measure the exposed threads with a 6" precision scale. We wound up tightening the springs all the way. Once the springs broke in they seemed pretty weak.

    Default By hand....

Once I loosened the locking ring I found you can turn the spring and retaining ring by hand. Then spin the locking ring up to the retaining ring and tighten it...

I used wide channel locks. They have better grip compared to the spanner wrench.

When you are adjusting the preload, it helps to have that wheel off the ground so the only force on the spring is the preload of the spring. If you do it with the weight of the bike going through the spring it is much harder to do.

Any tips on adjusting this? What are the extreme setting (full preload/no preload?) And what's a good starting point while making the adjustment?

Those springs seem so weak we've got ours tightened all the way to the limit.

Somewhere here or on the FB I posted the ride height chart vs rider weights.

If you are asking that would be a good first setting to baseline from.

Regardless, once the ride height is where you prefer, have the front wheels realigned.
