I am on my 2nd replacement module, the 2nd one is a 2015 part#, no problems since the 2nd install. BRP told my dealer they are not sure if the 2015 # is the fix, but they have had much less problems w/2015. MarcusB

MarcusB, Did they replace the ignition switch, at the same time? If they did what is the part # for the ignition switch?

How many miles do you have on spyder with the 2nd replacement module?

I got the first DESS problem last week, 4,000 miles on a '14 RTS. It did restart after turning the switch on and off about 3 or 4 times. Dealer says that BRP will not address the problem unless the problem can be duplicated at the dealer. Meaning it would have to fail leaving me stranded and towed to the dealer. Then it could start at the dealer so what then? My dealer is a good dealer and friend, they are dissapointed in BRP's response to this issue. They said that if and when it happens again to take a pic of the screen and document it before trying to restart. If it won't start it will be towed to the dealer. If it does start they will push on BRP again. I have been a strong Spyder advocate and am on my 2nd Spyder. It is simply not a very good feeling to wonder, every time you ride, if you are going to get stranded. We all know BRP monitors the forum and responds when they have something to say about a problem. The lack of response tells me they don't know what to say or do about this issue. I have been totally happy with the '14 Spyder aside from this problem. Love it, but no one wants to gamble every time they turn the key to see if it will start, Then if it does start you wonder if you'll get back home. I work out of town and get home on weekends, I love to ride and this is my way of stress relief from the job. I hope something can be done soon. At least with Limp mode you can get somewhere.
I guess I've vented enough. Thanks for bearing with me. On a good note, BRP is replacing the rear tire under warranty, it was down to the ware bars at about 3400 miles. Yea!

When I had my first D.E.S.S code, I took a picture ( look at my Thread that I started about the D.E.S.S Error)

My dealer replaced my first D.E.S.S module, then this month I was out doing errands, and I got the D.E.S.S. Key Code again, so I called my dealer and I said to them that I got the D.E.S.S. key code again, they replaced the D.E.S.S. module and replaced the ignition switch/ and changed the key lock on rear trunk, also, made the keys to fit the new ignition switch. I agree with you on it is not a good feeling if I am going to get stranded some where.

Was at the dealer getting the rear tire replaced under warranty and when I went to leave the DESS code came up. Great timing! I left the switch in the on position so the screen kept the code showing and walked into the dealer and had the service manager look at it. the part is on order. When I went back out and turned it off and back on it did start up. couldn't have happened at a better time.

Went back and forth a couple times with the service dealer. They said they could not get a DESS failure unless they had cell phone interference or touched both keys together. I insisted on DESS replacement as I was stuck at work for half a hour the week before with a DESS error. I was able to get it going and made it home. I just picked bike up Thursday 9/10 and trailered home. I went to start it today and there was the DESS error again. I called the service manager and he reassured me they did replace the unit. He will be contacting brp Monday am to open a case with them.

When one receives these infamous errors, one should ALWAYS take a photo prior to turning the key OFF.
Then you can contact the dealership with proof.

I was fortunate enough to have been reading enough of these DESS posts to have the same thought. I have been able to get pictures of all of my DESS screens and even have my service techs cell phone number to send them directly to him.

When you get the D.E.S.S. error take a picture, bring that picture with you to your dealer. ( look @ my D.E.S.S. Key Code, D.E.S.S. Key Code Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!, threads,)

I posted pictures of the D.E.S.S. error that I got on my 2014RTS-SE6 Cognac.

When I got the D.E.S.S. Key code I called my dealership and they opened up a case with BRP, and they ordered the parts, the dealership called me when they got the parts in, made an appointment and got the it fixed. They have replaced the D.E.S.S. module 2nd time, and changed the ignition switch, changed the lock on the back trunk once.

Haven't had the DESS code but have had a "Bad Key Error" twice. Has eventually started but it does make one wonder whats going on.

Read post #1 on this thread, and read post # 1 on: D.E.S.S. KEY CODE on a 2014RTS-SE6 ( I started that thread) you will see what the D.E.S.S. key code looks like.

If you get the D.E.S.S. Key code again "Take a picture and show your can-am dealer, and let us know what happens next. Deanna

Got the same code for the first time,(2014 RT) at Spyder Quest on one of the rides. Was able to remove the key and try again and it worked. Didnt know at the time what it meant, Just glad it worked. Have about the same mileage as one of the pic's, wondering if that has anything to do with it. ???

No the mileage has nothing to do with it.

If it happens again take a picture, take the picture to your can-am dealership, and let them know that it has been happening, on the 2014RTS-SE6, & 2015RTS-SE6 Models. Keep us informed, on what happens.
Glad that you were able to get your spyder started again. Did you take your key out and walk away from your spyder?
When it happened were you on a gas stop, or at a destination?

I wonder how many of the people having this problem shut-down with the Spyder "in gear"

My reason for asking is I had the screen of death pop-up twice. Both times I was able to clear it.
After the 2nd time I started shutting down in Neutral and since then it has never returned.
That was 5 months ago.
Just coincidence?
