    Default Spyder RT-S Crash

So riding this afternoon on a nice country road in Loudon County Virginia A Jeep came around a curve a decided to tend to his child in the backseat. He crossed the yellow line and there was no where to go. A 3 foot ditch on the right an a jeep coming at me on the left. He hit the left front wheel pushing it tight against the trunk. Witness' said the bike and I did a somersault together and then we separated and I did 2 additional somersaults and then slid for what seemed a mile. The Spyder did 2 complete somersaults landing on its wheels. In the end the Spyder is no more and I have a broken left foot and lots of road rash. There is truly something to be said for the Spyders safety as a bike. Rescue was truly amazed that I was up walking. Now I am a firefighter/EMT and did a mental assessment of my injuries as I lied in the road and could not believe all was working. The bike was towed and I was transported via ambulance to the hospital for a full work up. I will post some pics when I am able to see the Spyder. The driver of the Jeep was charged with wreckless driving. I am happy to be able to share this story with all of you.

Finally got some pics. Not sure if they do justice to the damage.

Wow. Glad you are ok. Seems like a light charge for the jeep driver. Glad your injuries are so light. You will feel it in the morning though. Day after its always the worst.

Good to hear you got off with as few injuries as you did.

    Now on the lighter side:
3 flips and a slide plus landed the bike rubber side down, you should get some pretty high marks for that.

    Heal quick.

Exclamation Teddy & I will add you to our prayer list for a quick & complete recovery

Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us. Teddy & I are both glad that it wasn't much worse for you. We actually just paid a visit to a buddy of ours that just went thru a similar MC accident, tho he was just sitting at a light on his 2 wheeler and got hit by an on-comming driver
    This happens WAY TOO MUCH

We'll be keeping you in our prayers

    Unreal

As I started reading this story I thought there is no way this is going to be good but I would say this is as about as good as it can get considering. The Spyder can be replaced as you know but you can't. I'm thankful you're okay. Our prayers are with you.

I agree with all of the folks and I am so glad that you were able to get out alive, not to mention with relatively minor injuries. Folks wear your safety equipment! I am guilty of thinking "well the Spyder is pretty stable so I won't fall down" so I ride in the heat with ia light tee shirt and 1/2 helmet etc. lately there have been a rash of accidents in my area where the rider was just sitting on the bike at a light or just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever the cause we all need to safety up clothing wise! Next weekend my wife and I are riding with our club to the mountains, so it's full face helmet, gloves, boots, motorcycle jacket and a St Christophers medal! Ride safe.

WOW!!! Glad to hear your doing ok considering what happened. Seems like a light charge too but guess it depends on the area and what that charge means. They built lots of spyders and thier insurance should be the one paying so thats of little concern. Sounds like a crazy setup. I drive a lot for work and see some stupid stuff as we all do. Just dont get it. Drive people just drive.
