Lookin good!! How did the clear coat go? I am an ex body man and have used clear in a spray gun, but never in a spray can. It really makes the dash! Fantastic!

I was chicken to try the clear coat after the spray paint (in many light coats/thanks Coz) went on so well. I noticed when I clear coated the dash bezel, that it would seem to be able to clog these tiny little holes of the speaker grills. With just the paint, all the holes are still nice and clear. So I figured we'll just try the painted grills for a while, and if I notice any need in the future, I can always add another light coat of paint, and then try the clear coat.

For now, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Eventually, I'll do the original dash bezel that still has the BRP logo in the center. The one that is painted & on Teds Red Sled now was an extra that I had sitting in the garage & figured it best to learn on the extra. It does have many flaws and is not perfect, as I put the coats on to heavily and had some runs that I had to sand down and repaint. Had to do that a couple of times actually, but it didn't turn out bad, just not perfect. Now that I somewhat know (Thanks Coz) what I'm doing, I'm confident that I can get the original bezel to look like I want it too

Thumbs up Another one of "those" days, emotionally speaking

Saw my surgeon today & had the stitches removed. No drainage at all in the past 3 days, and he said it wasn't red anymore at all, all good news. I start back with physical therapy tomorrow and he changed my return to work date back another couple weeks, so about the 14th I should be back to normal pretty much.

Its in the 80's and sunny here in the Cincy area, so after my Dr's visit, Teddy and I went cruising around. Its funny, how we go thru life making all these little decisions that we all make constantly, which lane to be in, where to stop, who to see and when, and how they seem totally eratic and inconsequential, but then, BAM, out of the blue, one of those little decisions changes everything about your day. I was actually thinking this very thought as Teddy and I were cruising down Interstate 71 heading for home, when I abruptly decided it was just too nice of a day to go home, and decided instead to take the next exit and head over to the park near the University of Cincinnati for a little game of fetch with Teddy. So we took our exit from the Interstate, with camera phones all around us in the cars following along our route trying to get a good pic of the Tedster do'n his thing.

We made it to the park and I pulled over on the side of the park road under a large shade tree so the Tedster had a little relief from the scorching sun. I hopped off the Spyder & proceeded to give Teddy some water so he could quench his thirst. Just as I was watering Teddy, a car half pulled over in front of us and stopped & the passenger window went down. I assumed I was going to see a camera phone pop out or a passenger wanting to see Teddy, but I didn't see anything, so I walked up to the window. And low & behold, this stop had little to nothing to do with Teddy or the Spyder. It was an older gentleman, guessing in his 70s or 80s all by himself and he was lost. He asked if I knew where the Cancer Hospital was? Well, around UC, there are about 7 hospitals in total, but none (at least to me) are known as just the "Cancer Hospital." As we talked, I told him he should probably put on his Emergency Flashers and he got a little flustered as he couldn't find the button, which concerned me. I asked, politely, "you don't know where your hazard lights are?" Thinking that their may be an issue with Alzhimers or something to that effect. Thats when he told me that it was a rental car and he didn't know it very well and that he was from Utah. Wow, along ways from home for him. I then helped look for the button, but couldn't readily find it either, so he just decided to pull up and over out of the road so cars could pass without issue. I then asked if he knew the proper name for the hospital, and he told me he was pretty sure it was the Jewish Cancer Hospital, OK, I can work with that. I went thru my head a bit, & realized that none of the hospitals around was Jewish & I couldn't recall where it was. I went & grabbed the GPS off of Teds Red Sled & returned to the mans passenger window with GPS in hand. I asked if he had a GPS which he then pulled out one from the console, but confinded he couldn't figure it out. So I did a quick search on mine & found that he was about 10 miles away from where he needed to be & that he'd have to get on the Interstate to get there, which in his condition (kinda feeble appearing, at least to me) concerned me a bit further. I found the address in Teds GPS and told him what it was as he tried entering it into his, but kept having issues. I then asked if he'd like me to input the address into his GPS for him, which he thanked me for. I inputted the info and all was set, but I could see the confusion in his eyes, just trying to figure out which way to start driving.

Then it hit me like a "TON O' BRICKS" If this was my Mom or Dad, what would I want a stranger to do, give them the info & send them on their way, hoping they made it, or would I want a total stranger to truly help in the best way they could? This was "THAT" reason I abruptly decided to take the exit off the Interstate at the last moment, so Teddy & I could help this lost soul. He explained that his wife was in the Jewish Hospital Cancer Center for treatment, all the way from Utah, and that he went out to get a bite to eat, but ended up getting lost and couldn't find his way back to the hospital. Once again, my heart sank, thinking of my own parents (who have both passed) and how anguished this man must truly be, and how lucky he was that he chose to ask Teddy & I for help. So many others, especially in a College area, would have taken advantage of him & possibly stole his GPS or robbed/mugged him, as its reported on the nightly news as a daily occurance in that area.

I explained to him that I was in no hurry myself & that Teddy & I was just going to the park to play, and that if he'd like, I could have him follow us to the hospital, which he quickly thanked me for. "No problem, let me just get geared back up & we'll be on our way, just make sure to keep up with us so you don't get lost." "No problem & thank you so much" replied the man. So off we went, all thru the college campus area & I'm sure after navigating it ourselves that he doubtfully would have been able to make it on his own. Once we got off the Interstate exit, and waiting for the light to change, with him directly behind us, I looked over at the car next to us. The lady driver, with a huge smile on her face, wound down her window, and out popped her camera phone. She said how Great she thought Teddy was & could hardly believe what she was seeing. She then asked if I wouldn't mind if she took Teddys pic, which I told her "sure, go ahead, everyone does." She said thanks, and that we had "just made her day" in that very brief 2 minutes of waiting on a street light to change. Once it changed, we were back on our mission of getting our follower reunited with his wife. A few more miles down the road, a few more turns, and we were pulling into the hospital parking lot. I went left & the gentleman went right into the parking garage, while happily honking his horn and waving his hand in appreciation out the car window at us. I didn't stop, but just kept going, leaving him at his destination & reunion with his wife.

Another day in the lyfe of a Spyder Ryde'n Pooch doing what he can to make the world a better place.

Exclamation So exhausted, went for a ryde, ended up over 270 miles &

met up, by chance, with some other Spyder Ryders that Teddy & I had met last year at Maggie Valley & went with them to a biker rally at Quaker Steak & Lube in Milford Ohio & met up with even more Spyder Ryders
And I was overwhelmingly reminded why Teddy and I don't usually attend such rallys, as Teddy's pseudo-fame comes at a cost. I can't even begin to tell you how many pics of the lil guy were taken tonight & am so thankful that we had Kathy to help and try to escort us thru the throngs of onlookers, as we could hardly walk a few feet before we'd get stopped & another photo-op was requested. If we go again, I'm gonna take our camper & umbrella and just hang out there & ppl can just line up for pics

Default What an inspiration to all and the #1 Ambassador for Spyders

Dave, haven't met you and wish you'd have been at Spyderfest but happy to hear your health issues are ending. If I had to vote, Teddy and you would become the newest additions to BRP's Spyder Five, making it Spyder Six and Seven. Look forward to your updates and proud of all you do for others. Good bless you and the "Tedster".

Cool This was a first and made me laugh out loud

So Teddy and I are cruising around town with Kid Rocks "All Sumer Long" playing thru the speakers of Teds Red Sled, when we come to stop at a red light right behind a young guy on a Harley thats nicely tricked out. As soon as we pull up behind him, he twists around pretty quickly to see where the tunes are coming from, and not to be outdone, he cranks his stereo on & up, tho his loud muffler made it barely able to be heard. 2 rather hot young women , scantily clad as its over 80 degrees, begin crossing the street right in front of us and the young Harley guy gives his throttle a crack to let out a loud growl, trying to impress the young ladies, but more like giving them a bit of a startlewith a little anoyance thrown on top. As soon as the young ladies saw Teddy, strut'n his doggled mowhawk on the back of the Spyder, they both let out squeals of excitement and ran off the sidewalk straight over to the lil guy & started petting him & posing for pics. The young Harley guy was spying the best he could, trying not to turn around again, and squinting to see what was going on behind him in his teeny tiny little custom mirrors that he had on his tricked out HOG. The light turned green and the Harley guy was clearly pissed and went and turned and then started to really lay on the throttle with ear peircing results. Too bad for him that he forgot to keep the bike balanced, and as we went passed, he & his over-revving HOG were laying on the ground with him cussing & kicking at it. I think most of you that have followed along with Teddys adventures, know that I'm a pretty nice guy, but this time, I couldn't help myself and as Teddy & I rode by, I was laughing Out Loud as I'm sure Teddy was as well

    Angry OMG!!! YOU STINKER!

So today, Teddy had me take the seat off of his Red sled so we could take it up to Middletown Cycle and pick up our new one, seeing as our original had a big tear right where the center part meets up. It had been a few months since we had been up to visit, and everyone (Customers Included) loved seeing the lil guy again. I didn't realize how long it actually had been, but many of them noticed that the bob on the end of his tail was also red & they loved it. Even had a bone in the back office for the lil ham, such a lucky dog I made the mistake of allowing Teddy to go out and romp around in the grass and playing fetch, til something caught his nose and you woulda thought he was having an epileptic sezure as he just started floundering in the grass. At first, I thought he was just trying to cool down, since it was quite warm & sunny & in the 80s. But then I walked over to where he was rolling around, and realized he was rolling atop the left over skeleton of a dead mole OMG!!! YOU TALKING ABOUT STENTCH!!! I was seriously gagging & since we had to drive the car for the first time in over a year, I made his stink'n a** ryde all the way home in the back seat We just got finished with his second bath since we've been home & its now tollerable, but he'll need at least one more bath tomorrow before all the nasty smell is gone Why do dogs LOVE to roll around in smelly stuff? He did the same thing 2 weeks ago at our last meet n greet, rolling around in deer pee

to answer your ? why...answer cause that is what dog's are meant to do...just us "crazies" who turn them in to house companions...anyyway one of my fav dogs wash a lasha..we lived on a farm with many animals...wouldd get her groomed with pretty pink bows...minute we got home she would getoutside as fast as she could and find the closest fresh cowpie and turn herself, including pink bow a lovelly shade of green...but have to admit thhat the stench from dead rotting "whatever" is right up there with skunk!!!! Sooo get some hydrogen peroxide....and spray and work into fur before shampooing!!!! Bet you Teddy was so proud of himself for dominating that area....obviously your doggie insttincts hadn't kicked in....

Exclamation WOW!!! Just narrowly missed making a $400+ mistake on our new seat

On Teds Red Sled, we had tear/rip at the very front area of the embossed center section of the stock 2011 seat. We went up to Middletown Cycle yesterday to pick up our replacement seat (covered under warranty) Once we got there & requested our replacement, the Service Manager came back from the stock room with a HUGE Box with our new seat. Only after opening the box and unwrapping the new gem, we came to find out, it was embossed with a Premier Edition Number on it, and NOT meant for Teds Red Sled, as its a SpyderFest Edition, but NOT a Premier Edition. But the service manager told us, no worries, we'll take off a stock seat from one of our floor models and get you under way, cool. So Ted and I played for a little bit with the other employees and customers while the service techs took care of business of getting us a new stock seat. I didn't think anything of it when he told me our new one was ready, and loaded it up in the car and made our way home. Well, I had pulled up the Utopia Backrest Installation Instructions, gathered all the necessary tools and my best (human) friend and I began to measure and figure it all out. We had the Utopia on our previous stock seat & absolutely loved it, but it came on Teds Red Sled as part of the SpyderFest Edition package from Len at Cowtown, so we never had to install it ourselves. I read over many of our fellow SpyderLovers posts and how most shared the trepidation of having to take a knife and cut into a brand new seat. Following the install instructions of measuring 3 inches back from the top of the backrest, it just didn't look like the previous position where it was mounted on our old stock seat. I kept looking & measuring, but it just didn't look correct, looked to far back. I had snapped a few pics of the old seat with the backrest on & it looked like where I was measuring was just the wrong spot and that the backrest would be too far back on the new seat. After rereading the instructions at least a dozen times, I was at a loss. My buddy asked me to turn the seat over so we could look at the underside & it may give us

and it may give us some insight to why it just didn't look right. Upon flipping it over, he used his smart-phone barcode scanner and scanned the white barcode sticker that was on the underneath of the seat. Come to find out, what we had in front of us, was the NEW COMFORT SEAT that BRP now offers as an option for the RT Spyders, that seats the ryder back 2" further than the stock RT seat. On Utopias WebSite, they make it clear that the mount used for the stock RT seat CAN NOT BE USED on the new Comfort Seat Whew, we got lucky that we hadn't made that first cut yet Utopia makes a different mount for the NEW RT Comfort seat, so we could've just waited & ordered the new mount, but this new Comfort seat won't work for Teddy's set-up with his various carriers that we use. As it was, with our old stock seat & the backrest, Teddy's various carriers were a little squashed in there, but it worked. Loosing two inces of space for him, would make his carriers not able to be used and we can't have that. Once we placed the underneath seat mount in place, we could visually see it was NOT angled correctly for this new Comfort seat. Disaster adverted, we'll wait til tomorrow for Middletown Cycle to open, and take the seat back up for a regular stock seat replacement

Sounds like Teddy needs to get the barcode app for his smartphone he lets you carry for him.
