Bet they were afraid to "Give it a Whack" like Lamonster or Smoak has posted years ago. Insert the proper fitting Torx or Allen bit with a medium extension and give that tool a good whack, then attach the ratchet or breakerbar handle and it'll usually thread right out. Have done it many a time on my '13 RTL. Gonna do it soon on my '18 for it's pre-winter oil and filter change.
