• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Oil Drain Plug issue

:oldpost: Bit of thread archeology going on there fellas. ;)

Sure, that was some interesting info you've added, but I'd certainly hope the OP hasn't been hanging off & waiting to drain his oil for that info, since he & most others replying originally posted back around the end of May 2018! Still, I guess that if he was, that oil'd be well & truly cooled & settled by now, so he'd probably need to warm the engine/oil up again in order to get all the oil to run out once he pulled the plugs!

Hey, better late than never!!:2thumbs: We have to keep the old post alive, for the fond memories!!

But that's one of the wonderful things about Forums, as opposed to most other forms of 'social media' - at (great!) expense to the management, everything posted in any thread on a Forum is already retained & kept alive for posterity; and it's in a searchable database too!! So it's always there, just waiting for someone to look it up & benefit from the shared knowledge & experience of those who've gone before! :ohyea:

It's just that many don't seem to bother even trying to search for previously shared info before starting a new thread; or they just make a token attempt & then start a new thread anyway; and of those newer members who do happen to stumble across these archeological gems, many don't check the original posting date &/or the dates of the last posts in the thread, so they think they are answering a contemporary thread & often expect the OP to reply immediately.... only said OP may have already resolved that particular issue a looonnnng time ago; or maybe they've even retired from Spyder ryding & possibly more some years back!

But if you post anything onto a Forum, that means it's always there, quietly and hopefully waiting in the dark for another chance to be called up & put to use again  Just don't expect an immediate response from the OP &/or any of the original posters!

Had to chuckle when I read this post. Just did a search after returning home from my dealer today for my first break-in service on my 21 RT LTD to see if anyone else had the same issue. My dealer couldn't even get the plug out! They didn't have a replacement plug in stock so they didn't want to drill it out. So they ordered a New plug and I'll have to make another trip for the oil change.

Bet they were afraid to "Give it a Whack" like Lamonster or Smoak has posted years ago. Insert the proper fitting Torx or Allen bit with a medium extension and give that tool a good whack, then attach the ratchet or breakerbar handle and it'll usually thread right out. Have done it many a time on my '13 RTL. Gonna do it soon on my '18 for it's pre-winter oil and filter change.
