Ummmmm..... really now??? I don't think Teddy fits that description at all
That said, having three wheels can bring certain social challenges.
for the Spyder, for example, feature the same kind of handsome graying men common to Viagra ads, and show a grizzled rider of a traditional two-wheeler nodding in approval of the three-wheeler. The reality at rallies, however, can be a little different.

I could post a picture and you would then see why the Spyder fits me like a glove? If you can't laugh at yourself.............

Why Yes...
As many of you have seen at Spyderfest and now Lamonts BBQ, this is obviously why I bought it.
With being male, 34, 5'8" and 200 lbs, I fit into this articles main supposed targetted audience.
Wait a minute...

Did anyone read the reader comments to the article? Those were not very favorable.

What did you expect from readers of the NYT? Nuff said.
-
Yes, That is why I bought mine. At 63 I figured better safe than sorry.
-
I'm ahead of my time. Neither graying, no belly fat, definitely no need for Viagra.
I bought one because the wifey won't let me drag knee two up, and I ain't putting luggage on my sportbikes.

I'm interested to hear what type of people read the NYT's. I ask b/c I didn't think there was a specific type.

I bought it, so 20 years from now I can fit right into their article. Just one more thing the NYT can't get right.

Copied from another thread .... who knew??? This is from WingManRT
Can-Am in NY Times Article
So my wife Melinda and I rode up to the Trike-In in Mt Airy, NC a few weeks ago. It's loaded with great homemade trikes, but since our Can-Ams were "store bought" & more futuristic looking, we garnered quite a bit of attention. In fact, a guy came over to talk to us. He spoke with my wife while others asked me questions about the Spyders. I ambled over to them and we discussed the Can-Am and more importantly, a new venture of mine for transporting motorcycles on scenic tours, TagAlongTrips.com. We talked for maybe 30 minutes. Then he handed me his card: "reporter from the New York Times"! Very cool. National exposure for a new business! Yeah baby!!!!
So he calls yesterday to confirm... wait for it... the spelling of my wife's name, " because talking to her was a hoot!" WTH!!?!?!
Here is the 2nd page of the article where she is quoted talking about her Spyder, along quotes from Chaz Rice, a spokesman for Bombardier Recreational Products, where sales are up 45%: http://ow.ly/dIs1U
(Three syllables: "Tag. A. Long." Was that so hard? Noooooo! 30 million readers could learn about our new business and... She talks about how fast she can go! )

The article has some merit, we've all observed first hand that the Spyder is ideal for older riders and those challenged. I think this is great, the more ryders the better. But to imply that's primarily who the Spyder appeals to is simply wrong. I purchased it because it was distinctly unique. The looks and design were incredible and it offered a ride that was, in my opinion, more thrilling than a motorcycle while offering significantly better stability and comfort. It was a winning combination that no other vehicle offered at an affordable price.
