A new world record. Sort of....
Ok, this morning on the way to work I finally broke 5,000 miles on my Spyder. The world record is how long it took. I picked it up in July 2008 and just crossed 5K this morning. I ride it nearly every day to work but I only live 3.9 miles from work.
On the plus side, it has been garage kept at home and at work so it looks and runs like brand new. I've never had a major problem with it either. (note the liquid sunshine on the windshield)
I read so many stories here about you iron butts going over 25, 50 thousand, I have to hang my head in shame
It's a record, but a dubious one at that. I'm so embarrassed
San Antonio, TX - 2014 RT-S Yellow (of course). Added BRP driver backrest to stock seat. Need to solve Blutooth and iPhone 5S integration problems next.

I'm behind you in mileage. But, my excuse is that I took a year off last year due to health reasons. I hope to rectify things this coming season. I've got a few mods to get done to make 2-up ryding better. I'll never by a high miler. But I sure do enjoy the ryding I am able to do.
Just get out there and enjoy every minute in the saddle. It's not a contest. To each his own. Just enjoy!
Congrats on the mileage marker. Time for a pin and a patch!!!

It's not so much how many miles you ride, as it is how much you enjoy the ride!

I noticed you haven't gotten the odometer upgrade done yet. I believe once it is done, you lose the tenths of a mile. By the way, congrats.

It's not really the miles you ride, but the love of the ride. Makes sense?
2008 GS SE5 in 2008
Traded at 43,000 miles for a left over
2010 RT SM5 in 2011
Traded at 57,000 for a left over
2014 RTS SE6 in 2015, which has 35,000 miles
Oct 19th, 2017, totaled 2014 RT while killing a Javaline
Dec 12th, 2017 drove a 2017 F3L home. What an awesome machine!
Never had any breakdown stranded issues.

Congrats on reaching your milestone!
And I am not so sure about losing that 1/10 mile place. Both the hubby and I had the odometer update and we still have our 1/10 mile place.

You guys are the best! Thanks for all the positive words.
That's why I love this place!
I'll have to look into the software update. I just had the dealer service it and do all outstanding bulletins. Hmm.

My suspicion would be that the cluster update didn't take. Perhaps the BUDS was the wrong version, or the tech did a different update. There is no way to keep the odometer from locking up without getting rid of the tenths. There is also no way to know what will happen until it is too late.

Right behind you!
I am right behind you...almost at 5000! I purchased my 1st generation Spyder back in August of 2008 from Woods Fun Center in Austin, TX. Like you, I keep mine garaged and have never had ANY issues with it. Looks and runs like NEW
