Zumo GPS as a radio and bluetooth phone

Good Evening, I've was looking at my Zumo 660 (I think) GPS and finally got it to connect with my ancient Casio G'Zone Type S flip phone,) some day I will get a smart phone but this one is indescrutible and I need that for my job) so I can monitor calls from my job while riding. I noticed it has a input port for whatever I think. I was thinking of getting an mp3 player with a fm receiver so I can listen to the radio thru it as I am disappointed in the radio receptionn (like a lot of people). I could also use the mp3 player ( by installing a memory card) to listen to my favorite music. Is this feasible? Thanks, Mike

The connection from the GPS to the radio is stereo. But for some reason only mono comes out all speakers. Also it is not a blending of both channels but one channel is just gone. So the sound quality just sucks. Give it a try if you like. The 660 has a slot for a SD card and a music player function. Put some MP3s on the and use the music player.

Thanks, I've got a few cards laying around so I will try it. I would still like to find an FM tuner that will get 87.7 which is below the freq range of the radio (min is 88.1 or 87.9). I would still need to get a cable to hook it up. Did the 2014 RT LTd come with the audio cable. Mine did not. Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike. You must really like that radio station.

So, here's the thing, I'm not sure what it is about the setting screen that's giving you a problem. I just went back and re-read your other post, and then went out to the bike to try some things. We have a station on 87.7 down in Cleveland. And sure enough, when I changed the Region setting to Region B, I was able to pick it up - barely because it's so far away - and all of the other FM stations played normally. The iPod Nano has an FM receiver in it, but I doubt seriously that it will go down to that station unless you can change the Region settings in it, and I bet it uses the ear bud wires for an antenna. On any receiver you try on the bike, how you can manage an antenna is going to be an issue.

I just think you need a little more practice playing with the setting screen and get close enough for that station to be received. Good luck with it.

All Spyders that came from the factory with a radio. Came with 2 cables. A mp3 cable. It had a 3.5 mm stereo jack that plugged into your music device headphone jack. Also came with a 30 pin ipod cable that plugs directly into older ipods and with an adapter into newer ipods. Getting an ipod and using that is the way to go. It is then controlled from the left handlebar controls and displayed on the main screen. It just works. Ask your friends an relatives. I bet someone has one laying in a drawer they don't use anymore.

I had a MC which included a 665 and an IPOD. Music/sound quality and control was definitely better out of the IPOD. If you want to use the 660, create a MP3-named fold and dump your files there. I believe you can use subfolders. The instructions are located on the Zumo forums. Let me know, I can help.
