Zumo 660 with Tri-axis bars problem.

Can someone help me with this mystery?

Just picked up my new 2016 RT Ltd which comes standard with 660LM GPS but had dealer install tri-axis bars.
After I got home, I tried to mount the GPS which was still in the box in the trunk and there appears to be a mismatch between the GPS cradle bracket on the Spyder and the GPS.
The mount on the Spyder is about 2 1/8" wide and has part number 011 03386 00 on the back of the part.
The Zumo, when plugged into my computer confirms to be a 660 and the info sticker under the battery shows it to be a 660LM.

If I google 011 03386 00, it shows to be for a 660 (does not say LM)- at least on ebay. But, there is no way that the Zumo I have fits into that cradle. The sizing is off - the most obvious is the top tab on the cradle is to wide to allow the Zumo to be pushed into the cradle. Could it be that the 660 and 660LM are two different GPS mount sizes - the Garmin site is unclear on this.

Does anyone have a 660LM - (and hopefully with the tri-axis bars) and can you see the part number on the back of the cradle?

I have a call into the dealer but suspect it will be tomorrow before I hear back from them. It would be nice to have more information before I talk to them and/or drive down to show them the issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

As additional info....the GPS box also contained generic mounting parts for other applications and the cradle part number included is 011-02025-00 - not applicable at all to Spyder but its lookup shows it to be for 660LM.

As I try to figure out the issue - I wonder if this might be the problem

Looking on the can am site at the RT Limited, it shows "Zumo 660" as standard. Looking at a couple GPS sites, it shows the 660 discontinued.
I wonder if the bikes are coming with 660 cradles but the 660 GPS given with the bike is now superceded with a 660LM that does not fit the cradle.

Could there be such an un-noticed mistake like this happening?

The 660, and 660LM are the same model. The "LM" get lifetime updates of the maps.
Could you have a cradle for a 590? :dontknow:
They were the updated GPS, that was used in the 2015 models...

I suspect its not unless the part number on the back is mislabeled - because when I do a search on the part number of the cradle, it shows it to be for the 660 - a real mystery.
The female opening at the top of my 690LM GPS that matches to the top cradle tab is 1.5 inches wide and contains 2 indentations to hold it in the cradle.
The corresponding male tab on my cradle that goes into that GPS opening is 2 inches wide - hence the mismatch.

Does anyone have a 590 GPS and if so, can you tell me the size of the opening on the top of the GPS.

Thanks again.

The part number for 660 zumo mount for tri axis bars is 219400408.
This took a bit of finding as the current catalogue only lists the mount for 590, which is a different part number. My guess is that you have the 590 mount, as it's the only part the dealer "saw", but hopefully this part no will help to check it all.

oh just read your latest post, never mind, I'll leave this part number info here anyway.

To my recollection I thought the 2016 was supposed to come with the 590?
I think your dealer took a mis-step.

590 are discontinued..Only had them for one year..they went back to the 660.

I suspect the wrong mount for the 660 as I could put my 665 in the 660 mount.

BRP discontinued with the 590 last I heard..
HArley is still selling the 660 but not the 665 which is what I have..

So confusing...

Well that will be kind of weird. But considering BRP, for them to go with an old non current model would not be surprising.

Maybe they did stop using the 590 since it is now the 590LM.

Who knows, guess the OP needs to take it up with the dealer he purchased from.

If it were me, I would be hitting them up for a 590 and the LM upgrade or a 590LM and be done with it. All 2016 products.

Yep I would to go back to dealer and let them straighten out the issue..

Went back to dealer this morning

Turns out they are as confused as I am. So they took pictures of the mount and the GPS unit and opened a case with BRP.
He said they usually respond very quickly.
Their online marketing specifically states the 660 Zumo for the 2016.
I told the dealer I want the least hassle way out - would take a 590 in exchange if that solves the problem.

I expect to hear back from them in a couple days - we'll see.
Meantime, I am really happy with the trike and I won't let this issue take away any of the enjoyment I am having with it.

Thanks to all who contributed information on this mystery - I will post the results when I get a resolution.

Good point

You only want a 590 if it includes the lifetime maps subscription, otherwise you want a 590LM only.

Also, ensure you get the entire set of extras, including the Garmin books, and extra mounts that comes with the BRP Garmin kit.

Yep - easy to forget about those details - thanks.

Difference in mounts

I had a 2014 Kawasaki Voyager with a 660LM mounted. When I sold the bike to get my 2015 RT Ltd, I still had the plastic cover for the contacts for when I removed the GPS from the bike. Not loving the look of the rubber cover that came with the RT mount, I tried the plastic cover and found that the 590 mount was much larger than the 660. Can-Am has switched to the 660 for the 2016s - probably got a good price. Garmin's site lists the 660LM for $320 and the 590LM for $749.

This wont be any help, but for 2017 the RTL is a 590.
Considering all the PRINT errors by BRP/CanAm curious if the 2016 calling out a 660 is one of these.

Guess only another 16 owner could tell for sure ;)
