Your Weather News @ June Edition 2026

Yesterday was a weather adventure here in the neighborhood, to say the least.

A crap ton (technical term) of rain and wind. The wind was strange in that it changed directions many times and as a result, the trees in our area suffered greatly because of the torsion.

Our neighbor to the north, who has several trees near our property line had a MAJOR limb of one of his maple trees twisted off of the tree. I mean major too, 16" diameter! We have a wooden privacy fence along the property line there, and the limb came thisclose to taking out the fence. I was actually outside with the dogs when it happened. I didn't see it, but I sure heard it!

It was a strange ripping sound as the limb was torn from the tree, but it sounded like metal to me for some reason and I thought that it was my other neighbor's new metal garage being torn apart.

It seems that a squirrel's nest was thrown from the tree, along with at least one squirrel. The critter wasn't injured and landed in our yard. He hauled ass to another tree and that's when the dogs spotted it and hauled ass in pursuit. They all ran around to the north side of our house and when I followed them, that's when I saw that the limb was down.

We had a bit of damage to our HUGE Trumpet vine bush/tree in the back yard. It was also twisted and about half of this beautiful vine was destroyed. My wife was very upset by this and is still ranting and raving over it.

Mother Nature, right?

The 'bargain' tree service showed up yesterday to work on the above-mentioned tree. By 'bargain' I mean that they did not have a bucket lift, instead, a 'brave' soul climbed the tree using spikes attached to his legs and a small chainsaw hanging from his belt. Crazy as the tree was VERY tall and he was WAY the flip up there! The dude must have been in that tree for around four hours. I don't know how he found the stamina to do it, but he did.

It's a bit sad because the tree was more than 30 years old and I planted it! Long story on that, short version, when we bought this house, we thought that the property line extended farther than it did, we didn't find out where the real line was till 19 years later. I planted a total of 5 trees along that line. One down.

Well here in Vermont, the weather is going to be hot and humid.

They are forecasting a combination of heat and humidity which could reach dangerous levels for all of us.

Today will be a warm Monday in the upper 80's, while humidity stays low and comfortable. Temps will start to inch towards the 90 degree mark for some of the broader valley locations on Tuesday. In the same time frame, dew points and humidity values will start to climb drastically through the 60's and towards the 70's. These Dew points are tropical and oppressive values.

By Wednesday and Thursday, we will have reached peak heat and humidity. High temps for both days will be well into the low and mid 90's. We will be very humid and sticky with dew points in the 70's, meaning how it actually feels -the heat indexes will be reaching towards or exceeding the 100 degree mark each afternoon.

The current temp is 83 degrees and it is sunny.

Here in beautiful Anacortes, WA on Fidalgo Island it is 62 degrees and that will be the high for today. Humidity at 78%, very slight breeze of 2 MPH. The sky is completely overcast but the cloud cover is thin enough to allow faint shadows on the ground. Tomorrow morning we have a 30% chance of seeing some showers for a couple of hours. I lived in this part of the country most of my life before retirement (2005), the only exception was when Uncle Sam insisted that I go, back in the mid-60s! As a longtime resident, I can attest that summer doesn't begin in these parts until July 5th. This year is no exception. Stay safe..... Jim

Well yesterday's sunshine was very Hot 93°F (103°F with the heat index). I was wet before I started my Ryde Time. Now the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of the USA. This week we are having temperatures in the 90's (humidity is terrible at 100°F plus).

Currently mostly clear sky at 77°F and with the humidity feels like 92°F. Not a friendly temperature for me. Well last night's 🌙 (moon) was pretty. Due to some tall trees, my view was not very good.

Today's high at 92°F and with high humidity, it will feel like 104°F.
Low of 78°F. AC is back on and the meter is spinning. $$$
But at least I have electricity. I heard several States are having some problems with the power.

I have started to cut some of my grass.
Being so hot I am starting early morning cut time. Just a little bit each day.

Yes, this is the last day of June 2026.
So I will just say enjoy your Summer and vacation time. See you soon 😊.

Till Next Time my Friend (y)

EXTREME HEAT WARNING!!!!

The warning goes through Thursday evening. Yesterday was miserable, the index was at 110f. Not fit for man nor beast!

Wednesday
Sunny, with a high near 94°. Heat index values as high as 102°. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Wednesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 76°. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Thursday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 92°. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Thursday Night
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73°. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Friday
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90°. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Cloudy and cool (cold to me) here in Anacortes, WA. Currently 56 degrees, cloudy, wind is calm, and humidity is 87%. There is still a chance of showers later this morning. Today's high will be 64 and the overnight low will be 55 degrees. It seems that I left a trail of wildfires behind me when I traveled from home to the Pacific NW. I DIDN'T SET THEM!!!!! In hindsight, I was fortunate to leave when I did and take the advice of others and alter my planned route. Excessive heat, low humidity, and windy are what the SW is experiencing. Perfect recipe for wildfires. I hope people are not foolish enough to play with fireworks. Stay safe..... Jim

Waynesboro, PA. forecast for the rest of the week. today 90F, Wednesday 99F, Thursday 101F, Friday 101F, Saturday 98F and Sunday 92F.

Here in Vermont, today we have a series of First Alert Weather Days for thunderstorms and some which could be strong to severe in the nature begins today followed by the heat and humidity into Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday starts mainly dry and partly sunny and we stay that way through about midday. Into this afternoon we start to find a few thunderstorms and we'll keep that thunderstorm potential going into the evening and overnight hours. The biggest risks with any strong to severe storms continues to be strong gusty winds, but hail , heavy downpours will be a threat as well. While a tornado potential is low, it is not zero , so brief spin-up tornadoes can not be ruled out. There is no guarantee that you will see severe storms, of any storms at all Tuesday, But conditions will be favorable for them by mid to late afternoon. Widespread flooding is not expected at this time, but localized pockets of flash flooding are possible, including overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. High temps for the day climb back into the mid and upper 80's as humidity starts to surge with dew points climbing through the 50's into the 70's.

Following the thunderstorm potential today and tonight all eyes turn to heat and humidity that begins to arrive in full force for Wednesday and Thursday. High temps for both days will be well into the low to mid 90's, although Thursday will likely be the hottest day. It will feel even hotter then the actual temp thanks to the high humidity. It will feel as hot as 95 to 105 degrees during the hottest part of the afternoon each day between Wednesday and Friday. While the greatest risk for heat illness will be between 1PM( EST) to 5PM(EST) each day, there won't be much relief from the heat overnight, with temps staying in the 70's and high humidity.

While we are still humid on Friday and Saturday, temps start to trend downward into the upper 80's and lower 90's. By Saturday, a cold front looks to cross through the area with showers and thunderstorms. These storms could impact JULY 4th plans.

The current temp is 80 degrees and cloudy. Also no storms yet.
