Even aside from any questions about who might've paid or didn't, which is something we don't know and should cease all speculation &/or mention of, the cost in time & effort of managing 'sponsors & advertising' for the site simply became too onerous for the people and the business to support, especially with the other far more pressing things they have to be concerned with right now! nojoke
So Lamonster Garage now pays ALL the operating costs of the site, and we (the members) provide the activity, share the info & knowledge, and make the referrals that keeps the site a going concern! :lecturef_smilie:

has there ever been a "Donation" button? I belong to other forums and the forum members kick in a small donation each year ($25) to help keep the forum going.
Never been one here, but you can always buy stuff from Lamonster Garage!
Although there is no specific advertising or list on board, if you want to know where to find product X, just put a request up on the site. Anyone with knowledge of product X can easily send a PM to the requestor.
I think, problem solved for now.
The issue was caused by many who did not pay their advertising fees, whether bills were sent out or not.
Some of the vendors that were still on had closed their doors quite a while ago. I always wondered why they were still advertising.
So just to be clear, If giving a link, to someone who wants a product, it has to be done through PM?
Further to the info conveyed by post #2 above, here's the policy/process we are running with for now:
"With the closure of the Forum's Sponsorship, Lamonster Garage is now completely funding the site, so in the interests of fairness to the Owner/Operators of this site, but also in order to still allow the Forum and Members to help out other Members, there will continue to be some Advertising permitted, but only as follows:
If you own or operate a site providing goods or services to other SpyderLovers Member's, you are allowed just ONE link to your site IN YOUR SIG LINE - this does not mean every employee at your business can join & include a link to the same site, it's a One Appearance Only thing, and you will benefit by having an active presence on the Forum as it will appear at the bottom of each of your posts - but be warned, as for all members & posting behaviour, frivolous posts or blatant 'post padding' posts will be removed without notice & possibly treated as spam with the consequent penalties.
If you are not a Spyder/Ryker related business owner or operator, but wish to recommend a useful product or a helpful site to other members, you are allowed to add ONE link to a post/thread referring to the particular product, but it needs to be either in the form of a recommendation of where to get something in response to another Member's request, or in a REVIEW post/thread; either way, members can post just ONE link to the product OR the supplier's site in their original recommendation or review post."
This may well be a (very) short term &/or interim thing, or it may become enshrined with the rest of the Forum Rules at some stage in the future, but all that depends very much on how the Owner feels about it as & when he can get to review it, but he has far more important things on his mind right now! So, in the meantime, none of the other Forum Rules have changed, and the quote above outlines how we, the Mod Team, will be managing 'advertising' and the posting of 'advertorial' links &/or reviews going forward from now until further notice.
