• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Your next wood project

i could do about a hour on the title of this post, but that being not said, thank you for sharing this. i have always said that if i could do my life of working over again, that i would love to be a real wood worker. it is a talent.

I built these benches last year. Modified to fit the space and backs so one could sit in the corner of the benches.
That's about the extent of the projects I build with wood since I don't have the wood shop tools.

I wanted to prevent folks from falling off the open edged deck. Found the bench plans on the Internet.

That brings back some memories for me. I used to watch that Yankee woodworking program on PBS and the guy kind of inspired me. He really built some great stuff.

Sears liked me a whole bunch that year. I purchased several pieces of woodworking equipment.

I did build a hutch from one of the Yankee plans. Mine did not turn out quite as pretty as his. We used it for years and passed it onto one of the kids.

Also made some intricate 3-D type things similar to the video shown. The daughter liked them as room decorations.

Did not have enough room in the truck to move the stuff to AK, so it got sold.

It was fun while it lasted though.

I have a joiner, 14" planer, table mount oscillating drum sander, table saw, two scroll saws, belt/disc sander, band saw and other stuff. Sitting in my shop. Most of these I purchased at an estate sale several years ago. Some of the tools were unused, still in their original boxes. And some of them are still unused in their original boxes.

I am a master cabinet maker.. have done this for 37 years... i really enjoy making furniture... its satisfying to turn a pile of wood into something beautiful....i wonder often how many board feet of lumber i have cut up in my lifetime.....

The stuff is similar to exercise equipment. 98% of those who buy it, use it once. :roflblack::roflblack:

Hmmmmm.......I'm allergic to wood! I have tried and tried but it's beaten me every time!

Give me a chunk of metal to machine and I'm reasonably happy but still no craftsman.

My attempts at doing something useful with wood generally ends up looking like it's been savaged
by a rabid wild animal.......And saws? They are fiendishly designed so you cut everything under size!

I had a neighbour, long gone now, who could take a quarter inch from the bottom of the door with
a good sharp handsaw and no marking out ! To me that's genius!
