• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It appears the comfort issue may never be resolved. I may have to bite the bullet and spend the $1,000 for the ISCI boards and brake. I hate cutting the original brake but they assure me is an easy job using my dremel tool and a cutting blade.

Is it normal for the spyder to make loud "clunk-thats a techincal term" when shifting with the SE? I have tried various RPM ranges and it does not seem to help. When it automatically downshfts it is just as bed. Sometimes the lurching makes me feel like I will be thrown off. I haven audi with an SMG gearbox and it is smooth and quiet.

Further, the spyder gets so hot that I can not touch the black plastic panel. It was only 75 today in Pa., but I was sweating from the heat being generated from the plastic. The machine seems to run very hot especially in slow traffic with the gauge always reading in the upper quarter of the range. I have never heard the fan come on yet. The concern of course is, can a spyder be ridden when it is hot outside either from a mechanical or personal standpoint.

This is a terrific forum, and I have gotten a lot of information. If only someone could tell me how to get a comfortable leg position? I am afraid on a longer ride (over 100 miles or so) and especially on an iron butt tyoe ride of well over 300 miles that it will be awful from a comfort standpoint. I even called the dealer to see how much my 2 week old spyder would lose on a trade in towards an SE RT. The bottom line-It would cost me almost 14K to make the switch. I would lose 2K on the trade, and the new machine is almost 24K to get the model available with the SE. It looks like you can not get it on their "inexpensive" base RT.

Thanks for listening all.

The only "clunk" I notice on my SE5 is when I shift into 1st gear, which is just like most motorcycles do. I do not notice any clunking after that. At what RPM level are you shifting, and are you keeping the throttle open at the same time? I usually never upshift before 5300 RPMs, and many times am in the 6000 range.

My Spyder gets hot, but not so hot that I cannot touch the plastic pieces. It was in the high 80's here all weekend and I rode mine a lot. You should not hear the fan come on, but will have to look to see if it is running or not. The fan only kicks in when the temp reading hits 5 bars. Once you get some open air and speed going it will cool back down and the fan will shut off.

In Tenessee last September I got caught in the Pigeon Forge traffic that nobody warned me about. Spent almost 45 minutes trying to make it between 2 red lights. It was in the 90's with high humidity, and I was very hot on the Spyder and kept a close eye on the temp reading. No problems at all with it. Some people have used the exhaust wraps, and I am actually thinking about doing the same thing on ours, but have no idea how much it helps with pushing the heat out the exhaust pipe instead.

Sorry to hear about the situation with not being able to switch to an RT, as it definitely sounds like that may have been more suited to you out of the crate. The good news is you can get your Spyder where you want it. It will be uniquely yours; however, it will cost some more coins.

in normal driving condition, my spyder will kick the fan on just little bit after temp reaches 5 bar and fan does bring it down to 4 bar and turn itself off even when i am sitting in red light. only time it could not do that was when i was in palm springs last summer in 120 degree weather.:yikes:
