It appears the comfort issue may never be resolved. I may have to bite the bullet and spend the $1,000 for the ISCI boards and brake. I hate cutting the original brake but they assure me is an easy job using my dremel tool and a cutting blade.
Is it normal for the spyder to make loud "clunk-thats a techincal term" when shifting with the SE? I have tried various RPM ranges and it does not seem to help. When it automatically downshfts it is just as bed. Sometimes the lurching makes me feel like I will be thrown off. I haven audi with an SMG gearbox and it is smooth and quiet.
Further, the spyder gets so hot that I can not touch the black plastic panel. It was only 75 today in Pa., but I was sweating from the heat being generated from the plastic. The machine seems to run very hot especially in slow traffic with the gauge always reading in the upper quarter of the range. I have never heard the fan come on yet. The concern of course is, can a spyder be ridden when it is hot outside either from a mechanical or personal standpoint.
This is a terrific forum, and I have gotten a lot of information. If only someone could tell me how to get a comfortable leg position? I am afraid on a longer ride (over 100 miles or so) and especially on an iron butt tyoe ride of well over 300 miles that it will be awful from a comfort standpoint. I even called the dealer to see how much my 2 week old spyder would lose on a trade in towards an SE RT. The bottom line-It would cost me almost 14K to make the switch. I would lose 2K on the trade, and the new machine is almost 24K to get the model available with the SE. It looks like you can not get it on their "inexpensive" base RT.
Thanks for listening all.
