• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, etc.

Some Spyder friends in my area are considering a ride in June. Trailering the Spyders to Wyoming, then riding Yellowstone, etc. They invited us to go with them. Any pointers, advice, etc. will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Be sure to do Beartooth pass...northeast corner of Yellowstone...that trip will be a blast...love that area

+1 for Beartooth Pass & Cooke City - the trip to Jackson is a short, but scenic one. Be prepared for snow - both lingering, and new, at the higher elevations.

I've done this trip several times, but always in early September, to assure fewer families, and better weather...

I love Yellowstone....done it twice, but I've never done it on a motorcycle. I remember several traffic jams where a herd of buffalo would be blocking the road and then mingling in with the traffic as they crossed over to the other side. I think I'd be a bit nervous exposed on a cycle seat with a bison sniffing my knee. :yikes: I talked with a buddy who had done that trip by cycle, and he said a quick engine rev always worked for him to get them too keep thier distance.

He probably had louder pipes than those on a Spyder. :roflblack:

It's a good idea to keep your distance from the buffalo. Loud pipes do get their attention but not in the way you would want. Ask me how I know this.

Now that is a real ride encompassing the "good stuff".

Yellowstone: take in both the upper and lower geyser basin roads and make sure you stop at Yellowstone canyon. You may find snow in the passes that time of year, and the numbers of tourists can be formidable after school lets out.

Black Hills: Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, Deadwood, Sturgis, Custer State Park, etc. The scenery is beautiful and will knock your socks off. Try to make it the 60 miles east to drive through Badlands National Park and visit Wall SD and Wall Drug on the other side of the Interstate.

Devils Tower: make sure you go there. Watch the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind prior to your trip. You will get to see the scenery twice. There is no "platform" there for the spaceship to land, but you can hike around all of Devil's Tower.

I would sure like to tour the area at least once again. I used to go there every year when I lived in MN and WI.

Can't go wrong with that itinerary. As others have said, the Beartooth is awesome but cold & windy. There is a rest area for us old guys with leaky taps near the top.

Take in the late evening show at Rushmore - most enjoyable on a warm, clear night

Take some warm clothes. I did a trip on my vrod up there in August a few years ago. August up there is not the same as August in IL/MO I can tell you that for sure.
