There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. The magnificent stained glass windows were a memorial contribution installed in 1929 by a Dr. Strachan. Beautiful.

The tombs in the first pic were moved from the original flooded church some time in the middle of the thirteenth century.
Pic two shows the organ.
3,4&5 show the cross beams that were just trees split through the middle to make beams.

A couple of pics of houses near the church. The tree where John Wesley, a Methodist preacher, preached his last sermon
and the weather vane on the church. Can you see the jackdaw perched up there?
Now for something that I found surprising.....inside the church at the rear in the pews called "The Rectory" I discovered this:

I don't think it's part of the original building!!

There is a website called 'Unofficial Britain' which I can recommend. Easy to read with some great insights to
events which happened around these 'Sceptered Isles' during antiquity. Some are truly shocking such as a
massacre of Jews in around 1289 by men from Winchelsea. Great stuff!

@wyliec.....Thanks for the compliment! Many amateur photographers make the mistake of buying exotic
equipment in the hope that it will make their pictures better. I have seen magnificent photos which are truly stunning
taken on relatively primitive cameras. It's all in the eye of the photographer. One of the best here is Cyncyspider, with modest
equipment ( I think he uses his phone!) his pics are just wonderful, absolutely crammed with atmosphere and subtlety, his 'eye'
is superb and he could become a pro quite easily!

Yesterday I went to the little town of Edenbridge.....

This little, originally Anglo-Saxon founded town is on the Kent/Surrey border and is very picturesque.

1 & 2. High Street looking south.

4. Looking up Church Street.
5. A nice Victorian red brick house in Church Street.
More to come....

i would LOVE to visit the UK. its really top on my list. It was second after Italy but i made it over there so England would be next if i could scrape together the money. There is one thing that is missing in all these pictures to be truly England though..... RAIN :)

Edenbridge 2.

Rain? It's a myth! We haven't had rain for two weeks. I've seen it go three months with no rain (April to July).
Anyway back to the pics.

Church Cottage opposite the ummm....church! Note the arched windows.

Here's the church, the roof on the spire has been rebuilt after I think the great storm of 1987 when much of Kent suffered serious damage.
We lost 15 million trees! One town lost 97% of their trees.

1 & 2. High Street looking north and a nice tile hung wall.
3. When brickwork was an art! Some lovely lime mortar from the 1800s. The modern re-pointing isn't too wonderful though!
Note the bricked in window. This was a result of the 'Window Tax' between the mid 17th century and late 19th. century.
This, by the way, gave rise to the expression 'daylight' robbery.
4. A nice secluded bungalow.
5. Some nice tile hanging on these cottages.

The water in the distance is the Bough Beech reservoir (2 & 3.)
4 & 5. Cottages seemingly clinging to the edge of the valley....What a view to wake up to!.

I would love to live in one of those cottages, with such a beautiful view!

I'm liking all the pics, OJ. They're picturesque and what a tourist wouldn't likely get. It's making me think about looking at my town a little closer!

Ok Guys 'n gals I though I'd put up a couple of pics (and it is only a couple at the moment!)
of life on a Spyder in England....

This picture was taken at an old coaching house, where coaches would stop to
allow passengers and horses some refreshment. It was built in 1512. (That's older than some of Bob Denmans jokes!!)
They serve excellent food and of course beer!!

Here I am just about to leave the parking area of a nearby 14th century manor house where they
serve afternoon tea in the gardens.....all very quaint!
These were taken on a friend's phone. I have just bought a new Nikon camera so I hope that this year's pictures will be more plentiful
and bigger!!

Thanks for the pictures; was just in Scotland and England last month. Wish I dared drive there but not brave enough. Saw some beautiful and interesting places I've on been able to read about.

Well Summer is a' knocking at the door and I'm out and about again!

As many of you know I had some pretty major surgery in March so the first batch of pictures from "MERRIE ENGLAND"
are what I managed to capture from the confines of my flat (apartment). I'll be back on the road soon and the travelogue will continue!

If so hope your not allergic:shocked::roflblack: Fyi the amount of rain we have had rinsed the pollen off my bike:lecturef_smilie::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: It looked as relieved as my dog after a walk:joke:(Colored the pavement for a whilenojoke

Yeah, the Lumix I was using has a 12x Zoom and I'm always using it to get the shot I want!
No, happily I'm not allergic to anything that I know of, so I don't suffer with hay fever.
